We came yesterday, (Tuesday) and it was a disaster, nothing was at the level from the female manager to the cocktail quality it have been a total joke. First i have to precise that we came last week on Sunday 23 and we had a good moment a good cocktails, we left a bill of nearly 9000 for 2 people.which we feel ok, the bartender Lucky was very friendly and the cocktails were good. Having some friends visiting we decided to make them discover the place. On arrival it wasn't the same ambiance at all, we were guided to a table by a female manager who obviously wasn't happy to work that night. She told us about the way they do cocktails and asked us our taste preferences. she wasn't friendly at all. Living in Bangkok since many years that's something we can accept and ignore. So my friends spend time to explain her how she would like her cocktail, but she keep on resuming "so you like sweet and sour cocktails" which wasn't the case at all, she obviously knew nothing about what she's selling, she just wanted our taste fit in a case...anyway after repeating 3 times that she didn't like sweet and sour my friend ask her to talk to the bartender and explain him what she like. Seeing the situation, , the others including me opted for classic cocktails (Negroni) and ask for a fruity cocktail , chosen by the bartender. What arrived on our table was simply the worst cocktail we ever drunk. My friend who asked a whisky cocktail with orange and chocolate flavors ends up with literally a Lemon Juice with a dash of unknown alcohol but no trace of whisky and it was not possible to drink that, (we all tasted), then the fruity cocktail was not drinkable as well, our Negroni taste looked like 70 % alcohol from pharmacy. The three of us decided to stop here and says nothing, and after the first sip we didn't touch our cocktails. Our whisky lover friend on the opposite didn't wanted to leave it like this and after a third try from the bartender and ordering a old fashioned she finally got something drinkable to her taste. The bartender came up after the first cocktail he was nice and tried to handle the situation, but put more lemon in the second cocktail which was not drinkable too. We ended up with 3300 bill for 4 cocktails and 2 mini water(with only 1 cocktail drunk). It was disappointing however this post is more to explain to the owner what can happen when he is not here and why we will not come back in a bar which we like on our first visit... The photos here are from the first visit and not from...

First, the good. The bar has a great design, very low lighting, creating a great atmosphere. Good, unintrusive music. The staff were pleasant, seating was comfortable. My cocktail was fine.

Then the bad. There is no menu so the bar person asks what you like. My wife explained she likes long drinks with dark rum, and typically orders a Dark & Stormy (saying she likes spices but not fruity drinks). What she was served was a cocktail that was so infused with birds eye chili that it burnt her lips and throat (the barman heard spicy, not spices). He tried to fix it, then made her a different drink, heavily fruity and not to her taste. But, by this point she was sat in a lot of discomfort with an ice cube on her lips and a glass of water which she was soaking her lips in.

When we asked for the bill, we were charged 125 baht for the water (it's 7 baht from a shop), and both cocktails, despite one being largely untouched which she a. did not like, and b. didn't feel like drinking because of the chili burns. When we complained, they took the water charge off but left both cocktails on the bill.

For bars such as these (we've been to many of them) I understand that the experience is why we're paying high prices (the bill for two cocktails was higher than a very good full Japanese meal earlier in the evening). Our experience was not at all good, but could have been saved by waving the charge for the mostly untouched cocktail.

As for charging for water, this is pure price gouging. When serving hard liquor, water should be offered for free - the cost to the bar is of no consequence.

Two stars rather than one because my cocktail was fine and the staff were pleasant, but didn't deal with the...

Let me be real this place changed my view in the world of alcohol. When i first came here many months ago probably during January i didnt think as much but as the experience goes on I met this amazing bartender.... Pete who educated introduced me into a new view of alcohol well cocktails hahaha. I enjoy more and more, the cool part is its like that one John Wick scene where he went to get his guns, he was like that gun dealer and it was truly a remarkable experience. The first experience was already amazing and meeting Pete and his amazing craftsmanship was already an amazing time. The second time yesterday 9th of October is when it truly changed everything, I had better personal drinks carefully crafted from Pete and also seeing Pete again really made my day its like seeing a long lost best friend in a while. The drinks were amazing and if you want my honesty the first one was the feeling of relaxation and shall i say damn that cocktail was better than weed a better high than weed let me tell you and this is ONE COCKTAIL LIKE DAMN and the attention to detail was splendid. As the night go on we talk and yesterday it wasnt just to drink and i was going through a bad time and i just wanna let off steam with alcohol but yesterday it wasnt just darkness..... that day was therapy for me all thanks to the amazing bartender Pete. To end the night i ask for another drink and it was a refreshing type of drink and he delivered, from being relaxed and divined by the first drink the second drink was the dessert that ended the night on an amazing note and to be honest it brightened my day and night. Seriously Pete keep it up you are amazing and i hope to see you soon again. Im definitely...

One of top 2 bars in my international list (41 countries). I seek out cocktail bars whenever I travel, and J.Boroski is one of the best. To begin, the atmosphere is very chill and the Playlists are relaxed classic American (USA) music and quiet enough to have an engaging conversation. Service is Omakase/craft cocktails to your taste, mood, or theme. Taste of cocktails is always world class, but if the cocktail isn't to your liking then the bartender will happily change it. Prices reflect this level of atmosphere, service, quality and taste. On this Bangkok trip, we went to J.Boroski 3 times. Each time the drinks were on point. One time, we chose a theme for the drinks with a few flavor notes as input and the female bartender (Almond) went to work. The lighting for watching the cocktail making process is great and focusses on the final presentation of the cocktail which is also great for photos! For our cocktail theme we gave instructions to use the Hide & Seek game for 2 cocktails. With the slogans 1) "nowhere to run", & 2) "nowhere to hide". With just a few flavor specifications on qhat we didn't like Almond was able to articulate the themes into the cocktails. Nowhere to run was energetic and refreshing like you were running. Nowhere to hide was more strong and a little bitter like you lost the hide and seek game. As many cocktail bars are theme oriented and themes are great way to have cocktails with friends... Its great that an omakase/craft cocktail bar can perform perfect themes on the fly. The price is perfect for that kind of experience. Had a great time and will be back each trip to Bangkok. :)

Ambiance is unbeatable. I paid a visit after being disappointed by Rabbit Hole (right around the block). This place is harder to find, and thankfully a gentleman outside escorted me in. Better suited for bar-hoppers that know what they want than a complete cocktail novice.... the whole fun around bespoke cocktails is articulating what you want and being pleasantly surprised in return, while beginners can often benefit from reading ingredients written on a menu (which I also prefer, especially for signature cocktails, so that I can try to make out each one from indulging on each sip) Perfect for a conversation as lights are dim and music is gentle in the background. I asked for herbal, sour, and gin-based. I was very satisfied with what I got as it was right on spot! Minus a star for reasons below: - I really do not mind paying 500 BHT for the exquisite taste of my drink and the amazing vibe this bar brings. However, to justify the high price tag, perhaps the presentation of the drinks could be improved. Is there a coaster? A box or a basket this lovely cocktail glass could sit in? - how is it that no welcome snack is offered? Anywhere you go, a minimum they provide is pretzels or some sort of finger snack to go with your drinks.... perhaps it’s because no service fee is charged?
