If high end beef is your fetish, give this place a try (around the corner, there's another high end Australian beef house that if you had to pick one or the other, I would say pick the Australian place).
I went for their high end Hida beef package. You get about 200g of beef, some vegetables, a bowl of rice, and a few shoe string type of fresh noodles in plain soup. You also get sesame and ponzu dipping sauce and a dessert that I didn't really care much for. But this will easily set you back about $100 USD...
Overall the Hida beef was very tender and would literally melt in your mouth. the ponzu sauce really extenuate the flavor of the beef. Don't expect any flavor from the pot as it's designed just to cook and relies on the dipping sauces for the flavors.
Service here is impeccable and they really know how to take care of you. As you cook the beef and the water get's murky, they would come by and scoop it up for you, wipe your table down and make sure your ice tea cup is filled.
Although it was a good experience, I'm not sure if I would do it again given the high price and 3 plus floors of other...
Read moreIt used to be great. My last visit was horrible the only thing that was still good is the waiter still nice. The soup which used to be authentic Japanese sukiyaki now its just sweet ,very sweet and somehow bland. The pork which used to be fine now its tough same goes for the beef as well. Foie gras sushi is getting significantly smaller and even then the sauce is not enough for its portion. The wagyu sushi is just not good the beef is not even good somehow! Ponzu have a very strong flavor of (i think yuzu but not too sure) which when you put the meat in it it will be the only taste you get.
Also i found a bug in the vegetable set but not sure what it is, the waiter change it for us though.
Oh,the tea still tastes the same though
Also its quite expensive, I usually don’t mind because it was good but now it’s not, even 50% discount would still be expensive considering...
Read moreVery interesting restaurant.
Salmon Kinoko Uni is salmon, mushrooms, and uni in a cream sauce. Very rich so best split with someone.
Scallops grilled in butter (Yaki Hotate) came nicely seared and with a delicious sauce I poured over rice.
Snow Crab grilled in butter (Zuwai Kani Yaki) was good but salty. A very small serving.
One of the most interesting restaurants I’ve been to in Bangkok. I’ll definitely return to explore the menu further.
This meal with rice and water...
