Shocking service and poor attitude from staff
Arrived at about 9:20pm to watch the F1 Qualifiers (starting at 10pm, along I might add, with many other patrons there. Bar, because of current restrictions, closes at 11pm. Ordered a bottle of wine and enough food for four people. Somtam was spicey enough and delicious enough for the Thai's with us, pizza was OK. The Somtam arrived and was duly devoured. Later, the pizza arrived one minute and within 30 seconds, a waitress thrusts the bill in my face, mid bite, 35 minutes before closing time. I said that I was in the process of eating my pizza fo please bring the bill later. About 10 minutes later, I am literally eating a slice of pizza as she arrives again, trying to force the bill on me, which I again ask for a few minutes to finish my food. A few minutes later, when I finished eating, I then paid the bill. Service was very average already, but when with 4 minutes to go for the F1 Qualifiers to finish, and more than ten minutes before the bar closes, they turned off all TVs. The TVs were turned off 3:54 minutes before the Qualifiers finished and more than 12 minutes before the bar has to close. The bar was full at this time. I asked one waitress to turn the TVs back on, several waitresses got into the discussion and one of them arranged for the F1 Qualifiers to be put back on. One of the waitresses decided to abuse us in both English and Thai and very rudely in both languages. She then retreated to the Bar area. When the F1 was finished, I went to the bar and told her that she was very rude, at which point, the barman obnoxiously interjected and was rude and very threatening to me and my party of friends. I said to the waitress 'you are rude' and he then told me to 'shut up' and threatened to beat me and throw me out! I have lived in Bangkok for fifteen years and have never experienced such rudeness and threats. During all of this, one other member of the waiting staff was with us, apologising for the other staff and trying to placate us. Interesting! Billy, the Manager, was upstairs and at one stage came to calm matters because of the shouting, but he did nothing to control the staff and once he went upstairs again (where the F1 was still showing with volume) the staff took the opportunity to start their barrage of abuse again, specifically one waitress and the obnoxious barman. I have known Billy for many years and he always runs a tight ship, but he appears to be unable to control at least these two staff at present. Poor show Billy. After many many years, goodbye Robin Hood, we will...

Read moreWe decided to come for the Sunday roast brunch. Settled on sharing a pair of two different plates one Sunday roast, one macaroni and cheese.
Utilizing the word divine would be an understatement, as this was one of the single best meals I've had in Bangkok.
At least when speaking to Western food particularly British cuisine. The roast was a perfect medium-rare tender and delicious, the Yorkshire and gravy was without flaws.
The macaroni and cheese, however, managed to steal the show of lunch. That in-house made macaroni and cheese sauce was simply perfect. It managed to straddle the line between perfect creaminess while maintaining the authenticity of a large amount of cheddar without becoming oily.
We did not have any drinks to speak of with, we barely had room for that meal.
Under 1,000 Baht for the two entrees you could simply not beat the deal.
If you enjoy a British pub atmosphere in the heart of Bangkok, visit this Pub Restaurant. Want to be amazed? Come on a Sunday.
This is second only to the Shakespeare bar and grill in Samui when it comes to authentic...
