Overpriced, overspiced, no flavor. A complete waste of money.
I got 2 broths; the spicy broth and the shabu shabu. The shabu shabu broth was literally just boiling water. The spicy broth was so overpoweringly seasoned with peppers that i literally could not taste anything else--no meat, no vegetables, just bitter pepper. I had to drown it out with the oversweetened bad tasting milk tea which just left me sick to my stomach. I love spicy food but it must be BALANCED to enhance the flavors of a dish, not mask it completely. This is the WHOLE point of shabu-shabu, to let all of the flavors mix together into a complex BROTH. Not bland bitter chili water.
The other broth tasted exactly as one would expect; plain beef boiled in unseasoned water. I wish i could say the sauces saved it, but there is no way their sauces are homemade, they taste like they came out of a heinz bottle.
And the absolute slap in the face is the price; 693 baht for the CHEAPEST... Up to 1200+ baht for their premium menu. I think the fact that actual wagyu beef is being subjected to this poor preparation is offensive. I would much rather cook these ingredients at home with my own broth, my own sauce. It would be cheaper and 1000x better. I think this is their strategy; charge you a lot, smother everything in chili so you get sick don't eat much and leave early.
Do yourself a favor. If you want shabu shabu, go to Siam Paragon mall. There is a shabu place that is fantastic that only charges 400-500 baht. Proper broth, proper seasoning, proper sauces and good prices. For the same price you can buy a taxi there and back and still have money left over. This place is literally a...
Read moreGreat food when I came last year and I would love to give it 4-5 stars but simply can't.
The main reason is the food itself. Last year they had a few more options such as different noodles and quail eggs compared to last week when I went.
I usually get tye highest tier and enjoy my premium Australian wagyu very much. The biggest drawback though from last year and this year is that I noticed subsequent servings of the premium Australian wagyu isn't as good as the very first plate. Last year (December 2024 -February 2025) I ate at this location about 10 times and every time I've noticed the extra plates of the premium Australian wagyu was less thinly sliced, less tender, and some even come out frozen. I underhand they need to freeze it for freshness but it's just a trend I've noticed and ultimately paste 2,3, etc just don't taste as good.
Also, I rarely eat spicy mala and last year it was insanely spicy. This time I had to ask them to make it spicier and they added extra mala spice 2 times and it still tasted just average. When I asked they said they didn't change the soup based but from looking at it I clearly know it's different.
So for those reasons it's a solid 3 star now. I really hope they make changes but judging from the good reviews so far by others I doubt they will....
Read moreMy first time in Bangkok, and I ran into this place ... I wanted to have something genuine Thai food experience and ended up in a Taiwanese restaurant - but it was totally worth. So where to start ... first of all, I never ate so much things, which I never tried before in my life. Their selection is so immense, have a look a the photos, they had everything. Twice. And really good stuff. The hardest thing was to leave space in your stomach when you wanna try a lot of things ... and in this hot pot thing just about everything tastes good, even the things which I usually don't like ;-) The staff is super friendly like in many places in Thailand, but here I had an even better connection with them, and they really look after you and suggest you things, even if we not always understand each other because of the language barrier. I got a personal designed pan cake from them. The 499 TBH is more than fair, because aside the meat you have a great fish and vegetable selection. For sure I...
