3 people, with one glass of cocktail = 2,400 baht.
Cold ponzu capellini - Underwhelming. I personally find the pasta kinda over cooked, so it doesn’t absorb the sauce well when poured. The ponzu sauce is also lackluster and on the bland side. Couldn’t really taste the hint of lemon/bonito/mirin.
Khao soi udon chashu pork - taste nice, but not as good as local shops that sell khao soi. The chashu pork is good. My dad enjoys this dish the most.
Shrimp mentaiko quesadilla - Taste good and the sauce goes well together, but it gives me ebiko (mild fish/shrimp eggs) more than mentaiko (salty spicy fish eggs).
Yuzu glaze duck with quinoa - Duck is cooked well, doesn’t smell very gamey and it’s a bit chewy only some parts. The glaze tastes like orange not yuzu (maybe yuzu but sweet jam version), and the glaze is so strong that it’s borderline dessert. If the chef can reduce the glaze intensity and sharpness, this dish would be perfect. Surprisingly, the quinoa and veggie tastes really good.
Yuzu opera cake - The sauce surrounding is too sweet, like a yuzu jam out of the bottle. The cake itself is interesting though, I enjoyed it.
Yuzu cocktail - Taste vanilla sweet and delicate. It’s soft and nice like a airy dessert, I really like it.
The staffs here are friendly, but not sure if we’re at the blind spot or what but we always had difficulty getting their attention. I waved my hands like a fan motor, still, it’s necessary sometimes to verbally call to get their attention.
Will I revisit? Maybe, if I’m nearby. I’ll go for the yuzu cocktail and try their...
Read moreHad a chance to visit twice this week. Excellent atmosphere and Japanese music. Food presentation was also great although flavour-wise, some worked really well and others were so-so.
Living up to its name, beautiful origami papers were available with folding instructions. The really friendly staff were eager to demonstrate how to fold cute paper rabbits, foxes or cats.
Would recommend the salmon miso, salmon cream spaghetti and chicken karaage. For desserts, both the brownies and green tea cheesecake were delicious.
Avoid the rice dishes though. They were a little too heavy on rice with not enough meat/fish/prawn --- not great value compared to the high price tag.
There was a special deal on offer where you get a free drink if you give them 5 stars. Might have considered it if they cared about honest opinions from customers rather than buying a perfect score, so...
Read moreCute and relaxing Japanese fusion cafe, origami themed. Creative and international fusion menu, beautifully presented, while some food is slightly on the salty side, most of the dishes we tried were delicious: spicy tuna puri, quesidilla mentaiko, teriyaki butterfish and lentils, Wagyu Beef Roll, tofu salad, Kaizen Don, Yuzu Josei (mocktail), soy cappuccino (lactasoy, sweet). Has a nifty electronic menu that you can order and free origami instructions and paper in case you want to play. My one critique would be as a high-end cafe, I would expect oat or almond barrista milk to be available to complement the extensive drinks menu that should be a...
