My stay at Hyatt Place Bangkok, Sukhumvit was an enjoyable experience. The only negative point was in some spots the hardware and furnishings showed some wear and tear. For a lesser establishment these would not even be noticed but they are below the standard of what I expect of any Hyatt establishment. Probably, periodic surveys of hardware and furnishings are scheduled but should be done at an increased rate.
What made my stay an overwhelmingly positive one was the staff of Hyatt Place Bangkok, Sukhumvit. The entire staff were courteous, helpful, and strived to meet my requests. From arranging my room cleaning around my unpredictable schedule, providing a pencil sharpener extra towels and bottled water, making copies of/scanning documents, answering questions on local establishments, and educating me on Thai customs and practices the staff facilitated my working stay.
Worth mentioning is the included breakfast. The varied and tasty fare from the salad bar/fruit selection, the omelet bar, the bread pudding, and pastry selection were all freshly made and of fine taste. The local Thai specialties included in the brunch set the standard of quality for my local dining experiences. I very much appreciated the varied local Thai dishes I could sample as part of the included breakfast menu.
Of special note are two staff members that went above what any guest could expect. The first staff member is Peter, the Lead Concierge. He is a Hyatt employee with a knowledge of how and where to do things in Bangkok for the experienced traveler. More importantly, he had the patience and skill to kindly explain to the clueless farang the practices and attitude of the Thai people. Several times Peter saved me a lot of time and expense by pointing me in the right direction with the right process to achieve my goals. The second staff member is BK or Banana, according to her name tag. She worked both in the Aire Bar and the morning brunch. She provided exceptional service with her attention to detail. Her cheerfulness, constant smile, and general upbeat attitude made several tough mornings bearable. Thank you, Peter and Banana.
When in Bangkok, I will again stay at the Hyatt Place on Sukhumvitt 24, mostly because of the...
Read moreExtremely unprofessional and incompetent hotel which I feel is an embarrassment to the Hyatt brand. Sent numerous emails, made probably more than one hundred calls today and no one picks up. Spent the entire day from morning to evening with unresolved issues for the Test & Go Package that can only be booked through the hotel directly according to our Agoda representative and this hotel does not offer that option to third party providers. Agoda provided the manager contact number but she insisted she was from another Hyatt chain. Agoda themselves tried calling the hotel to no avail leaving numerous messages for call back. Manager finally calls me at 520pm saying that her reservation team was out of office and that the Test & Go cannot be processed by the day's end due to documentation and processes required. I inquired since the night before and indicated URGENT in capital letters to both the main email and sent multiple emails. I needed it by today due to the 7 days notice period required for the Thai Pass. There is no voicemail system even to leave a message. That is how low the customer service level can go. It does not go any lower than that. I booked 15 nights at Hyatt Place and I am beginning to regret this decision. The service is highly compromised. I do not even know now if there will be any receptionist or anyone to answer the call when the guests experience issues or whether I will even be able to check in on 16 April when I arrive. I am a Hyatt Member and a regular hotel stay guest for around 30 days each time I visit Bangkok. I have stayed at Hilton, W Hotel, Fraser's Place with no issues. I have proceeded with another hotel for the Test & Go Package. Trust to say, I may have to request a full refund and cancel my 2 room stays for 15 nights from this establishment for both me and my director. The shortage of staff or inability to even answer the phone which is the basic function of ANY hotel and the actions and response of the Manager is extremely found to be lacking. They should remove all the 4 stars rating of this hotel. They may continue to operate this facade of a hotel and ignore their hotel guests to their own detriment. After all, who are we? Just customers.

I checked in to the hotel for just one night before flying back to London check in was very unorganised, I had asked for a list of what amenities and benefits I would receive with a globalist status. The response was very patronising and blunt 'we do not have any services here'. I barely used the hotel, the room was nice and tidy. The only issue being the shower, the water pressure was poor and the temperature would change every minute without warning to boiling hot. The issue I had with my stay was purely customer service, which is poor/non existant.
I had just flown in from Krabi so we were both tired and hungry I asked if we could have some food and one of the girls at the lobby which had a smile dialed up to 10 started listing what they do not do like room service etc, I asked if we could get some food at the gallary (restaurant) which finally we were told yes and asked to take a seat. A full 20 minutes after the same lady came to take our order even though it was a very small menu.
Later that evening I asked to book a taxi to the airport. I was given a choice or a meter taxi or a private taxi which would be more expensive. I chose the private prebooked taxi as i didnt want to wait for a meter taxi to be hailed. I check out with no charges (will come back to this) so im waiting outside for 10 plus minutes only for a meter taxi to show up. I spoke to the lobby and asked what is going on. Her reply was that oh the taxi guy came but he didnt wait and must have left.. which is very unheard of as all taxis i have taken will come up to the lobby. This obviously caused a delay and I had to rush to the airport almost missing my flight. They clearly did not book the taxi and ended up hailing a meter taxi from the street which i had to wait 15 minutes extra for.
To top it all off I receive a charge on my credit card. God knows what it's for, I barely used the room. I had a meal which I paid for in full with cash and I have a receipt. On check out I didnt have any charges to pay for. I have tried calling and have emailed with no response. Hyatt is a well known brand which comes with a certain level of service, one which cannot be associated with...
