Please have a sit down talk with the staff. When i pulled up, I made eye contact with the floor staff. My partner and I then chose a seat outside. Nobody came out with the menu or anything. I then peered and looked to see that there was an indoor seating area. Okay, we moved seats there. Still nothing. ??. I then had to ask the floor staff for the menu. We ordered 2 birria tacos, 1 elote, 1 loaded nachos, and 1 corona beer. Only 1 set of birria tacos came (okay fair enough theres 2 pieces per "set" but good thing only 1 set came). It tasted bland. super bland. barely any flavor for a birria taco. The pork was tough and not juicy at all. the elote was super underwhelming. only a couple pieces of baby corn with tajin as the main flavor. For the loaded fries, there was no saltiness or whatever at all, only sour cream coming through. Nothing from the salsa or cheese or guacamole. Corona was the main highlight of the night, but for 190 baht a bottle, it had to be. When it was time to pay, I looked at the kitchen staff, asked for the bill then the kitchen staff looked at the floor staff who was in front of him, then chuckled. okay... what was that about? I then had to go up to them and ask for the bill. I read from another review that they got hit with an outrageous tax, and so did I. Roughly 180 baht just to taxes and service charge. Not the fault of the restaurant, just information for other people. I dont know, super underwhelming, would...
Read moreA True Taste of Mexico in Bangkok As Southerners from the U.S. who’ve spent plenty of time traveling through Mexico, we were absolutely blown away by the authenticity and quality at Cholos. This was our first visit to any of their locations, and we’re already planning to come back. The flavors are spot on — from the first bite of chips and salsa, we could tell this was the real deal. The salsa actually tastes homemade, with the perfect balance of heat, acidity, and freshness that’s so hard to find outside of Mexico. Every dish we tried was well-seasoned, vibrant, and true to Mexican staple flavors. The frozen margaritas deserve their own mention — strong, smooth, and not overly sweet. They hit that perfect balance that’s often missing elsewhere. Pricing is very reasonable for Bangkok, and compared to what we’d pay in the U.S., the quality-to-price ratio is outstanding. Cholos delivers an exceptional dining experience that’s both authentic and approachable. Highly recommended for anyone craving real Mexican...
Read moreLovely food! We ordered multiple dishes from Baja fish, pork birria burrito, loaded nachos and the beef birria with soft tacos. And my favorite out of all the dishes is the beef birria! The pulled beef was so delicious and the dipping sauce was amazing! It was a shame though that the shop doesn’t serve pork birria ma ma noodles anymore (which I was so looking forward to trying). Our least favorite was the Fish Baja and the loaded nachos because it was already quite pricey but if you wanted to add meat you have to pay extra...
The food was definitely on the pricey side as it is a Mexican cuisine in Thailand but I’d say is worth it once a blue moon when you are craving some birria! I also went on Monday to get that frozen margarita 2 for 1 deal and the drink was very refreshing with a lovely tangy taste of lime.
I must warn you though it is quite a walk to get there from the BTS and it is somewhat hidden but I’m glad that I made the decision to go there and try...
