If you're looking for a budget hotel in a great area, you should consider the Galleria 10 at Sukhumvit Soi 10. It's just a short walk to the Asok BTS and MRT which will get you cheap and easy access to most places of interest in Bangkok. Sukhumvit also has lots of shops and places to eat and several of the ubiquitous Seven Elevens which are great for all those little things you forgot to pack, bottles of water and tasty late night snacks. At the Galleria 10 we had a deluxe chill room which was plenty big enough for the two of us. We also stayed at the Galleria 12 during our time in Bangkok but I would recommend 10 over 12. Soi 10 Sukhumvit is a much nicer road to walk down. If you follow the road to the end, you also have access to Benjakitti Park and the green mile, which will take you to Lumpini Park as well. A little up the road on the opposite side is the sweetest coffee shop and spa centre called Chan and Yupa, which you should definitely try. The hotel itself, at first glance, looks a little dark from the entrance, but once you are inside, it's quite a cool urban nightclub chic kind of atmosphere. Super friendly and helpful staff (particular nod to Patrick). We didn't use the restaurant/breakfast buffet so can't comment on that. On the 8th floor is a small bar with a separate seating area with soft sofas and a fuzzeball table. There's also a small gym which we didn't use. The pool, also on the 8th floor, is small but perfectly sufficient for a cooling dip at the end of a day of sight seeing or shopping. There are several seating areas that afford a little privacy for having a drink /chat/reading a book/ sunbathing, which my self conscious teen daughter appreciated. The room had only a shower, so it might have been nice to include a small bowl for soaking tired feet and the shower could have been a little more forceful (think that was down to a filter type shower head?) but was plenty useable. If you've got long or thick hair you might want to bring your own hairdryer as the one in the room easily overheats and cuts out until it cools down again. The flooring was a little scuffed, but for the budget it really didn't bother us. Decent bed and soft pillows. Daily cleaning, unless you hit the do not disturb button just on the inside of the door as you enter the room. Room tip, ask for a room above the 4th floor or facing the road (it's a quiet one) or you may end up with a view of a grimy building directly opposite your window and with no voile curtains in the room it's not great. We just kept the curtains shut as we were usually out when the sun was up anyway, but you wouldn't want to walk out of the bathroom in your towel with the blackout curtains open. All in all just a few niggles , but nothing insurmountable and for the budget £107 for 4 nights easily overlooked. The one change I would definitely suggest though is voile curtains at the window behind the...
Read moreFirst day/night experience. Supposedly a 4 Star Hotel!!???? Check in fine. Go to room.., very musty smell. Room advertised as “with a view”. Opened curtains to get a full view of very dirty units I’d say are local housing. If you like that, this is for you. That’s all you get. The concierge was standing behind me and suggested I go to floor 8 where the pool is to get a view. Go to pool on floor 8. Order drinks and go to sit in nice leather lounge. Told that this is for vip guests only. Move to some other seating that’s ok but could do with some new foam. The bar on the 2 seater is extremely noticeable. Advertised as having cable tv, satellite tv and Netflix. Was hoping I could get footy on cable. Go to room only to find flat screen tv is about 20 years old… one of those ones that are 4” thick. No cable tv hooked up. No separate satellite tv and because the tv is so old, it’s never heard of Netflix… no smart features… dumb as. It just has channels anc the picture on every channel is unwatchable. Go down to complain to find Cable and satellite channels are only a few chosen on the normal channels.. Netflix? A service that has been out for more than 25 years and has been a streaming service for the last 18 years. A service that comes loaded free with every smart tv? You can’t get it on the tv we’ve got. And if we want it? Despite the fact we add ready upgraded our room from standard - we have to upgrade again to another goon that obviously has a smart tv.. Cost? Another $50/night… for the facility to access your own Netflix!?? That is ridiculous. Mini bar? There’s a drawer - but nothing in it!! We go to the bar downstairs which is supposed to be a really cool funky bar - closed … at 6.00pm in the afternoon. Rather than return to the pool bar where the girls are playing pop music, when everyone in the area is clearly over 40, we go out. We return and on the way buy 2 drinks from the foyer vending machine. We then go to the pool bar and ask for 2 glasses with ice, only to be told that we are not allowed glass in our room. We have to use plastic! Go to room, ring front counter to request for the second time, another pillow and 2 hand towels as there were none provided. That’s our first night! Wish we hadn’t bought 2 more! DIN’T BE FOOLED! THIS...

Pros - Friendly, warm and helpful staff, convenient location, good price, smoking room available, make up room everyday (sheets are not changed dailly though). Staff were responsive to requests and issues. Hotel is in between Nana and Asok station. Need to take a walk through a lane, which fit 2 cars just nice and no pedestrian walkway, to get to the main road. Near to Terminal 21, Korean Town and places to get nice food. Tried their breakfast once (339THB for 2), the cooked food were not too bad and spread was limited but sufficient to make you full. There is a gym with basic equipment which are quite old and worn out. Only 1 threadmil, 2 stepping machine (1 made lots of noise when in use) and their readings were unreliable.
Cons - Noticeable wear and tear in the room fixtures. Booked delux room with cityview, balcony and outdoor chairs but ended up getting a low level room without balcony at all and facing concrete wall and platform because I requested for smoking room, and thus, felt short-changed. They could have checked with me if I want to proceed with the change of room type before hand and create separate category for smoking rooms with their description clearly stated. There are 3 very old chairs with dirty marks on it, which we did not want to sit on. TV is not a smart TV. Use Chromecast to cast videos but it was unstable and kept needing to restart the videos. Toiletries available - limit to only 2 small tubes of shampoo and shower gel per day. We bought our own eventually. Showerhead is weak. No laundry service available (my bad for not checking before I booked) and nearest coin laundromat is at least 10-12 min walk. Arranged for laundry to be picked up by a laundry company but our load left at the reception was handed to someone unknown (not from the company we engaged) instead but thankfully, the cleaned clothes were returned about 24 hrs later.
Overall, good service and location but ammenities need improvement. If you do not mind a worn out place, it is still worth staying...
