Bagels were not New York style, and were too soft. Too expensive for lacking authenticity. Used cheap/fake bacon. Taste was decent. (Full review below:)
If you know what good bagels taste like, this place is disappointing. Most of their marketing indicates they know what good, New York/New Jersey bagels are, and they live up to the standard. They also incentivize reviews by offering a free bagel if you leave a 5 star review, which explains the high praise. To put it simply, they don't live up to the standards of a New York bagel.
I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on a jalapeño cheddar bagel. The staff looked at me in confusion and showed on the menu they only have bacon and egg, but they can add cheese. If you're not from the US, this might not apply for you. But the menu clearly wasn't "born in New York" which is written proudly on their wall, if they don't even have a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel on their menu.
Regarding the bagels, they were too soft. The consistency was more similar to bread than a bagel. I know it's hard for a bagel shop to get their bagel consistency right, but it felt like they settled for sub-par bagels.
The bacon was not authentic American style crispy bacon, it was the cheap soft stuff. It was more similar to pork roll than bacon. They also added salad dressing which was bizarre. The taste wasn't bad, but it wasn't a bagel sandwich. It was soft bread with fried ham, scrambled egg, processed cheese and ranch dressing for 240 THB.
The price was too high for the lacking authenticity. We paid close to 500 THB for a bacon, egg, + cheese on an everything and jalapeño cheddar bagel.
If you're not from the US then my disappointment will probably go amiss. But having grown up in an area spoiled by the best bagels in the world, I'm always excited to try attempts of recreating a unique cultural item from my hometown. I doubt I'll return, but good on them for trying. I just wish they tried a...
Read morePan‘s serves some of the best bagels in Bangkok. In the past I had to go all the way the Udomsuk to enjoy their delicious, chewy bagels. Now they opened a shop right in my neighborhood! I was thrilled when I saw that and tried them last weekend. And what can I say? Quality is just as good as in the original one. And staff is just as nice. The place is smaller though. But still enough seating. There is even some outdoor...
Read moreI ordered the smoked salmon and the smoked chicken. I really loved the dill cream cheese on the salmon. Also, I had the jalapeño cheese bagel, it was spicy and really good. The bagel had a very good texture. It was filling. It wasn't busy when I went at lunchtime. I parked across the street at the shopping mall. The atmosphere was modern and appropriate. The...
