The worst hotel! Never in my life can I recommend this. Here is just a short list of the things that were just wrong, or awful, or a horrible experience, or a rude interaction from the staff, or another sleepless night:
the walls are literally zero soundproof. Without exaggeration you can here prior in the adjacent rooms talk, and understand what they are saying. You can also hear people across the or on another floor sneeze.
the room next to ours was occupied by a Caucasian man, who was drunk every night and his Thai "wife" was constantly fighting with him. They would scream and fight and two nights in a row we could hear security come up, which silenced them for no more than 3 minutes. No consequences.
when housekeeping allegedly made up our room, the floors and surfaced were dirtier than we had left them, as their long black hair was all over the room. The trash bins weren't emptied, the sheets were just thrown on the bed, laying bare the filthy mattress underneath. They left greasy handprints on all mirrors and windows and failed to provide new toilet paper, when clearly it was empty. We complained and learned that they sent two trainees together to our room, with nobody supervising them or teaching them. Anywhere in the world, this is a total security breach! We pointed the dust mites and grease stains out to them, to which they told their eyes and just kept saying: we cleaned this room already. May I add, I speak Thai fluently, so language want the problem here. Peaking into other open door rooms the day, we saw the same two trainees just hanging out listless, which gave me understanding of what they think it means to make up a room... One of the maid trainees was squeezing her blackheads off her nose in one of the guest room mirrors, when we past them.
mid trip our key cards expired due to two bookings we made for the duration of our stay, prior to check-in. The front desk staff assured us afore, that there won't be an issue with the cards. When going down to reactivate it cards, the staff, Khun Nay, was very rude in producing the new cards, talked back like we are children in prison who committed some haneaius crime, and when we kept speaking in Thai to get, she ignored us and gossiped with her colleague. She then threw the key cards at us without looking at us at all. Crime tip: anyone can get a key card to any room here, as the staff won't even look at you
the pool ist disgustingly dirty and was always overcrowded. The biggest turn off was that the vast majority of kids and grown ups didn't shower, before entering the pool.
the shower in the room could only be adjusted from either very cold to steaming hot. A moderate in between wasn't possible.
If you don't care about a good night sleep, want to give your kids a chance to learn swear words and learn about domestic violence first hand, love to be treated like trash by the staff, like to have a room getting dirtier by housekeeping, won't use the filthy facilities and finally have the hotel allow cheating crooks taxi drivers come pick you up, then this is the place for you! Edit: Taxi came to the premises, the bell boy (uniformed staff) was at hotel entrance with the taxi driver, I asked the driver in Thai to turn on the taxi meter, he said in Thai: sure meter, but then there is an airport fee of extra 50 baht, which doesn't exist FROM a location TO the airport! If the Ibis staff would be trained to help and accommodate their guests (us), they'd say something to the taxi driver, who despite us being and speaking Thai, tried to make some extra "farang" cash. The problem here Mr Farouk isn't that the Ibis staff are cheating crooks, I doubt there is a capacity for it from my observation of them being busy with their mobile phones and other private conversations during work hours, I was referring to the taxi driver being a cheating crook. Sorry for the misunderstanding, English is not my first language. However, what I took an issue with was, the staff letting this happen, just standing right there, just...
Read moreGood: The hotel is located in a great spot, with a large and a smaller shopping centers within the walking distance. The pool and the river view are also advantageous and offer some relaxing moods. The selection of dishes and the restaurant overall is pretty good (although we didn't have breakfast or other meals included, but ordered quite a few times). Finally, the internet was pretty good too, good connectivity throughout the hotel and even outside areas and good speed too.
Not-so-good (bad): First of all, we paid extra 50 dollars for a room with the river view, but ended up getting one overseeing a bit of the pool and some river if you tilt to the left hard enough. The staff confirmed that it is still regarded as a river view, as technically you can get a glimpse at the right angle, won't be changing the room for you. The housekeeping quality is not the best. Look under the sofa cushions to find spices and wrappers left by the previous guests (took me a minute to find, obviously the cleaners didn't bother). The shower had long hair in a few spots too. So did the bed area, pretty upsetting. The soundproofing is next to none - babies crying, students drinking, some Slavic adults celebrating - all can be heard through the night. Moreover, 6th and 7th floors had renovations being done to them - very loud, yet such an inconvenience was not compensated or addressed by the hotel staff in any manner, just "sorry". The room itself barely has any lights, I mean literally. If you are a reader - forget about it altogether, it cannot be done within the room at all. Additionally, the engineer must have been drunk or very underqualified since there are two power plugs in the room - one by the TV, one by the desk and the kettle...phone chargers by the night stands? Forget about charging your phone, or using a laptop in bed if you need a charger. Bathroom - soap, body wash and shampoo all come from the same hug, needless to say, you'd be pulling your hair with it and not getting clean. The cheapest liquid they could find, probably. Toothbrush? Nah, bring your own, toothpaste too. No bathrobes - okay with me, but if you are offering a pool, perhaps it will be wise to offer some sort of slippers for the guests too? Again, bring your own.
Overall, the stay was bearable, but for sure one of the lowest experiences in Ibis for me (across 10+ others I've stayed in). Not worth the money for the quality provided, a 30% reduction in prices would...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience during my most recent stay at the Accord/Ibis hotel in Thailand, marking it as my least favorable visit both in Thailand and at any Accord/Ibis hotel globally.
This was my second stay at this hotel, and from the onset, several issues arose. We had planned a 5-night stay and arrived early at around 7 am. Understanding the usual check-in policies, we requested an early check-in and were even willing to pay extra for the convenience. The morning receptionist kindly informed us that an early check-in at 10 am could be arranged without additional charges. To pass the time, we decided to have breakfast at the hotel's restaurant, after settling the full payment for our stay and a THB 2000 deposit.
However, at 10 am, a shift change in staff led to a misunderstanding. The new receptionist, unaware of the early check-in agreement, told us no rooms were available until 12 noon. This was confusing and frustrating, especially since we had planned our morning based on the initial assurance. The situation escalated when, upon our return at noon, the same staff member mistakenly claimed we had not made any payment. It was only after showing our receipt of payment and deposit that he checked us in, notably after some unnecessary delay.
More distressingly, we felt discriminated against based on our nationality and skin color. We observed that guests who arrived after us were afforded early check-ins. Additionally, during our meals at the restaurant, we often waited significantly longer than other guests to place our orders, raising concerns about potential bias.
Finally, the checkout process further compounded our dissatisfaction. Although the staff assured us that our deposit would be refunded to my card immediately upon checkout, the refund was not processed even a day later. Despite multiple phone calls to the hotel, I received promises of callbacks that never materialized.
This experience starkly contrasts with the hospitality standards I've come to expect from Accord/Ibis, and it's disheartening to report such grievances, particularly when they touch on issues of...
