My friend and I stayed here for four nights. Our first room was lovely, and we were really happy - until we were abruptly woken up the next morning by loud banging at the door. Around five members of staff were standing there telling us we had to move rooms, even though we had booked and paid to stay where we were. One staff member even stood and watched us as we packed - I had to ask her to give us ten minutes just to get out of bed and organise ourselves. It felt incredibly intrusive and poorly handled.
We were then moved to a much smaller room that felt like a big downgrade - the bathroom was particularly bad, with a terrible smell and a blocked drain. Despite this, we were still charged the same rate. I asked for a reduction, they were not prepared to offer me any discount so the only thing I was able to get was a free cocktail …
We debated checking out early, but ended up staying. That said, each day brought another odd or uncomfortable experience. While the staff were all friendly on the surface, they seemed to be under a lot of pressure and came across quite frantic, which really affected the atmosphere.
On the final day, we were questioned multiple times over cocktails we had already paid for the night before. I was trying to check out quickly to catch a ferry, but the staff wouldn’t accept that the payment had been made — it was an incredibly stressful note to end on.

Read moreThey recently built new rooms which are quite good. The interior decoration and size is extremely nice. The staff is very friendly, the food at the restaurant quite decent. I’ve stayed here multiple times and it’s my first choice when I come here.
Only thing I would say is that the service and staff training needs to be improve a bit. It’s not big things, but many small ones: try to get food and drink orders right more often than wrong, fix the smell in the bathroom coming from the drainage, ask your guests if they need the room cleaned and made up, take away the trash, don’t tie the room key to the key card (sometimes you want to leave the AC on for a bit or keep devices charging while you’re out), install a decent faucet in the bathroom sink with just a normal water stream that is convenient to use, get better towels (the grey ones in the bathroom don’t soak up any water, almost impossible to dry yourself with those).
