In Touch Resort and Restaurant — Hotel in Ko Tao

I never usually write reviews but think this one is needed. Booked in for 3 nights, on the first day we ate at the restaurant (I had chicken fried rice). That evening I became horrendously ill with food poisoning, (it was the only meal I ate that day, and doctor confirmed it was from the rice). I was in agony and my friend went to reception to try and get some help. In fairness the manager made a call to a doctor but that fell through but he then left us to it. We feel there should’ve been more aid here as we were in a completely helpless situation, we had to call internationally for someone to help us and to speak with a doctor. A few days after, I went down to speak to the staff about said food poisoning. Went down multiple times throughout the day to try and speak with the manager but ended up speaking with lots of different members of staff. One of which told me it couldn’t have been from the rice as the rice is cooked every evening… I ate it at lunchtime. Therefore confirming I had eaten day old rice. Once I finally spoke with the manager he was relatively helpful and I brought up the day old rice situation. He then took me into the restaurant to find who told me about when they cook the rice and asked him about it. This man then denies what he told me earlier and basically berates me about how the food poisoning is somehow my fault? (In front of the whole restaurant!) Tries to get me to go into the kitchen to look at the rice? To be honest he was pretty aggressive over the whole situation, when the facts are simple… I was fed day old rice and I became incredibly unwell. At this point I just gave up as it was clear there was going to be no responsibility taken from the staff for their malpractice with food. The manager did then offer me some free food which was appreciated but didn’t trust the food anymore. I do understand in Thailand food poisoning is common, however this could have so easily been avoided, and just not what you expect from a resort that you’re paying decent money for. We stayed at the resort as a couple for 6 nights and had booked a standard studio. Unfortunately our stay was very disappointing.

The positives were: the location right next to the beach.

Just a few of our negative impressions: There is an extremely musty/damp smell in the room... the 13 year old air conditioning only makes it worse. Questionable whether and how often it was serviced. 2-3 times a day garbage is burned next door and it smells terrible. Since you can't close the windows in the bathroom, the smell wafts in. Around 5 pm it is always particularly bad, maybe it is also due to the location of our room (No. 23). Generally very old and tasteless furnishings in the room The shower head does not hold Water pressure in the shower fluctuates extremely Water temperature also fluctuates. It is either boiling hot or freezing cold. Temperature control does not work. Besides ...you don't even want to see the ants as a point of criticism anymore The outside staircase to the 2nd floor is without railings

We complained to the service about some of the problems and they took action, but nothing changed during our stay. Only the low price and the location made the stay bearable. However, the staff was eager and the restaurant right by the sea is good value but the hygiene there also leaves a lot to be desired.

We will definitely never come back to the "resort". Yes it only has 2 stars but on our 4 week trip it was the worst accommodation in the whole...

Highly recommend!!! We stayed 5 nights, then extended our stay another two nights because we didn’t wanna leave. The first nights we stayed in the “Studio” which had everything we needed. We felt safe, there was no problem with mosquitoes whatsoever and the room was cleaned whenever we asked. The room was actually pretty big and the bed was very comfy! The last nights we moved to the “deluxe” room, which was a bit more modern. But if you are on a budget, the studio will just be fine.

Now to the resort itself: beautiful! It feels like you’re in paradise!! Green plants and flowers everywhere with small paths that take you to the beach. You walk out of your room, come by the extremely modern pool with comfy lounge chairs, directly into the main walking street of Sairee beach (it’s a small street- no noise!) and to the hotel’s own restaurant. The restaurant offers a variety of food, highly recommended! As the restaurant is directly at the beach you literally have everything you need just by your door! Another plus: the resort ist located in the far left of sairee beach so there is enough distance to the party spots (no noise at the room).

We truly recommend this place. It’s just perfect!
