Magic Foodcourt, 1st Floor — Restaurant in Nong Prue Subdistrict Administrative Organization

This place is the same as any supermarket food court throughout the country. The prices are the same too. So much better than airport prices. But be warned at least one of the staff at the cash desk is corrupt. It was very busy when we arrived. So we found a table and my girlfriend waited with the bags while I joined one of the two long queues at the cash desk. I gave a 1000 Baht note and told the lady to put it all on one card. ( since you get any balance back at the end this is the easiest thing to do ). She seemed to misunderstand and gave me 500 charge with the card. I bought my food and gave the card to my girlfriend to buy hers. While waiting for her I checked my food receipt and noticed the start balance was only 400. After we'd finished we'd spent 315 between us but the end balance on the last receipt said only 85. I did wonder if there could have been a 100 Baht deposit to make sure you return the card even if there was no credit on it. Back at the cash desk there was now no queues, so I returned to the same lady and handed in the card. She swiped it and put 85 Baht on the counter. I didn't pick it up. I shook my head and started to explain that I'd given her 500. She very quickly started to apologize and added another 100 Baht. She obviously didn't want some farang making a scene. The speed at which she handed over the 100 Baht makes me absolutely sure that this was not an innocent mistake. 100 Bath is only a couple of quid/bucks. But if she does this to a hundred or more foreigns a day it'll add up to a lot of money. Most supermarket food courts have a terminal where you can swipe and check the card balance before walking away from the cash desk. I didn't noticed if there was one there or not. But, if there is one, I would highly recommend you use it ( or maybe ask for...

There is a trap waiting for you at this establishment! Please be careful! Read on ......They made you get a card with credit and the staff didn't inform the customers verbally about the expiry date is the day itself. Yes, they have signs put up there for reminder but my eye sight is bad. I didn't see the sign and the words imprinted are very small. The staff should have reminded the customers about their expiry policy especially those who credit a larger amount of money into their cards. I went back the next day to use the card , they refused to refund me the money. I credited 1000 Thai baht and has 400+ Thai baht balance left. The staff kept blaming me and said it is my fault that I didn't see the sign. I told her that my eye sight is really bad. She said so it's your fault not us. I'm really upset. The whole trip in Thailand was very impressive people were generally friendly and the food is really good. However, this incident has made this trip a bad memorable one . I felt cheated by this joint. I'm sure this happened a lot to other customers especially tourists too. They said they have to close their account everyday so no refund or so. This is a very bad excuse and not acceptable. I've been to other places that also need card to purchase food. They always welcome to refund the left over amount and no expiry date. I heard nice things about the food court so I had a bit of my expectations up but tbh it was slightly disappointing.

First, I walked around to see what I wanted, then topped up my card with the exact amount in cash, then went to order. But for some reason one of the stands were “closed” and weren’t serving anymore despite the servers and vendors being there so I had to choose something else from a different stand. After choosing my alternative dish, I look at the stand that had the food I initially wanted to order. People are ordering and the servers are serving at that stand that told me they were done for the day. Wtf??

The taste wasn’t terrible but the fact that the food was cold despite it being served right in front of me was pretty questionable of how they have been conserving their food throughout the day. I really hope all of this is due to the fact I went around 8 pm and that this doesn’t happen midday. But considering we’re at an airport, the prices are very reasonable so it will do for a quick craving...
