What went well? 😌 My boyfriend and I stayed at the Cross Pattaya Pratamnak. Late at night, after 10 PM, we found this place is only one open near our hotel. The male staff from the front door was good, taking care of my boyfriend and me, bringing us to the table, and setting up the table. The view is excellent. The live music is flawless. The food is good. What could be better?💪 The ordering system (manual + app) We already ordered the 2 food menus + cocktails with Staff A. Staff A returned and told us, “sold out 1 menu”. We said, “It’s ok. We can take one for now.” Staff A left for a while then Staff B came to us while we were looking for a new menu to replace. Staff B asked me in Thai, “Did you order yet?” I answer, “Yes, we did, no worries.” Staff B returned and asked me again with a questioning face, “Are you sure you have ordered?“. I answered, “Yes, we did with Staff A.” Then Staff B explained, “But she didn’t see our order on the restaurant application.” .... Luckily, Staff A came and helped, explaining that we had already ordered. Here is the room to improve your order system. IMO, this is not a customer issue. It’s the restaurant order issue. Please refrain from repeating the same question to the customer, like inspecting the customer that lies about the order. Please do that to your Staff or team instead; maybe Staff A has a human error or the system error. The collect bill process and service mindset Given Background: We sat on the front sofa with a sea view. We got mosquito bites a few times, so we requested the staff to turn on the fan behind us. The first staff takes care of us well. Around 10 minutes before the restaurant closed, the fan suddenly turned off (not sure automatically or if someone turned it off). Then coincidentally, 1 cashier staff came, but we didn’t know who she was. She looks like a general staff for us. So my boyfriend asked her in English to turn on the fan, unsure why it turned off. The staff said, “I will, but we have to clear the bill first.” When I heard what she said, I was disappointed that she asked us for money first instead of service. As I worked as a software product manager, I can guess that the staff might want us to pay before her billing and account system is off, or she is on duty to collect money for every customer before the restaurant closes. But when I heard what she said, I was still disappointed that she asked us for money first instead of service. So I asked her, “Please turn on the fan.” to point out it is better to give us the service before we can clear the bill. Then she looked at me and repeated, “Yepp, I will turn it on after to clear the bill.” We felt disappointed with this way of clearing the bill without a service mindset, but we followed her to make it done so we could leave. In the end, we found out that there is no service charge here. So ok, that’s fine, it might not be the staff’s job to serve us to turn on the fan. So we want to give feedback it’s better to train the staff to handle their work with a service mindset instead of burdening the customer. Imagine if the staff did the opposite thing, turning the fan for us, then we would feel appriciated the service, and we already love the view and food here, we will generally give a tip, give a good review and share to all of...
Read moreHad an overall great time and fantastic meal at 3 mermaids. The only reason I scored a 4 star instead of 5 was that the service was a little slow because there was only one server in our section (inside) and they brought my fiance pasta out about 20 minutes before my lamb. By the time my food arrived, she was finishing up her pasta, and they brought out her dessert. Anyway, on to the food review. The shrimp ball skewers for appetizers were absolutely delicious. Crispy and flaky on the outside and soft and doughy almost like a hushpuppy on the inside. I thought the Vietnamese sausage was okay, but she said they were good and enjoyed them. I tried a few bites of her Drunken Seafood Pasta and it was very good. Loaded with different seafood and and nicely cooked pasta, she also really enjoyed it. My lamb was very good. I ordered it medium and there were 3 lamb pieces all of different thickness. One was well over, one was okay, amd one was perfect. All still had that nice gamey lamb flavor. The mashed potatoes were also very good. For dessert my fiance had the coconut cake and she said it is here new favorite dessert. I also tried it and thought it was fantastic. I ordered the mermaid cupcake. I didn't know she was planning on ordering dessert while ordering our main meals, so I more or less just ordered the first thing that popped out to me. As you can see it's color's definitely pop! I probably would have ordered something else, but it was actually really good! I think they should consider serving the cupcake in something other than a paper cup, as it does not go with the ambiance of the restaurant or esthetic of plating they put so much care into all their other dishes presentations. This place is highly recommended by me even though I was picky with certain things, I still enjoyed my evening throughly. And the live singer was also playing in the indoor seating area which in...
