Zurich Bread Cafe — Restaurant in Pattaya City

First bakery I tried since arriving Pattaya. bread is fresh and coffee, while illy bean, acceptable. I enjoyed consistency and quality so I make a point of visiting 2-3 times a week. I went today around 11am, due to Covid, I am the only customer in the café. I can see the manager sitting and doing some paper work near the counter. I ordered, as usual, Americano and only remaining almond croissant. while proceeding to pay, I noticed freshly baked almond croissants arriving on the tray. naturally, I asked the attendant who was in the process of bagging my croissant to please switch to the fresh one. I really did ask nicely. at first she acted like she didn't hear me. so, I again, asked politely to please switch to a fresh one. she finally relented and I was quite pleased until I saw her shaking her head as if what a bother... well... I wasn't pleased so I told the attendant that she should not act that way toward the customer. at this point, I looked toward the manager in hope she would come to rescue and apologize on staff's behalf... she acted like she didn't hear anything. after paying for the coffee and croissant, I told the manager that she should pay more attention to her staff. to my surprise, she seems to be upset at my complaint, she defended her staff saying she many not have understood my request. well what of Thai hospitality and politeness. too bad, while I regret loosing my favorite bakery, I don't like being treated like an outsider who is only good...

I found the service here to be poor. When I first walked through the door nobody greeted me even though there were three servers in the restaurant and there were no other customers. I felt awkward and asked if it was okay for me to dine here. I came in by myself and I was the only diner in the establishment. I asked for the chicken plate and was told that it would take 15 minutes and I agreed. I also ordered a coconut water at the same time. After waiting 30 minutes without receiving the coconut water or the chicken I asked about it and she said it still wasn't ready. At this point I was upset because I haven't even received the coconut water and they had not said a word to me. Didn't even ask to see if I was okay or if I wanted water or anything. I asked then to cancel the order but she argued with me and told me that she had said it would be 15 minutes but I countered and said that it's already been 30 minutes. After waiting another 15 minutes my dish finally was served but by that time I was so upset I didn't want to stay in the restaurant anymore I took the food to go. I would suggest in the future that the server provided a better estimate of the timing...

The food and drinks aren’t anything to rave about, especially the drinks . I tried the mango and passion fruit smoothie, and must say it is one of the worst I have ever had.

The multigrain bread is too stiff and has very little texture; the vegetarian sandwich isn’t anything like the one mentioned in the menu. I had to rummage the sandwich to look for the eggplant, however, could not find any, even though it was mentioned to be included, such a shame that they serve dishes so unprofessionally.

The service was abysmal, with the waiter asking me to order first before, as I very professionally asked for the wifi, fully equipped with my tech paraphernalia.

I was rushing in for a zoom meeting and meant business, was horribly peckish and did want to eat, guess they don’t recognize the type of customers....
