For the price point, the quality exceeds it. (especially on a chill day where you just want sushi but don't want to compromise for quality). I was so surprise that this quality was only 600. Some spots that sell for 2000+ use fish that isn't as fresh as here. I'm going to admit that i was less than 4km from the restaurant so maybe thats why i got it super fresh when delivered, so this might also be another factor.
Fish/Sushi: The omakase box that i ordered came with 8 nigiri that consisted of Ikura, Otoro, Akami, Engawa, Hotate, Saba, and Hamachi. All the fish was fresh. Sliced not too thin so it wasn't just eating the rice. The fish itself isn't flavored so its super clean taste. You can dip it in the soysauce. Very clean edomae style sushi. All the fish was not fishy at all delightful. The Hotate was super super good texture and clean tasting.
Futomaki from here next to the nigiri is super large. You get quite alot from the futomaki. Saba maki is clean tasting not too fishy, they made it unflavored and simple so you can dip it in wasabi and soysauce. The tamago isn't sweet from here.
But not too savory either. I also ordered 2 pieces of IKA on the side which i'm glad i did. The squid was the star here. So so fresh and simple tasting. Just how i like my cuttlefish.
Sushi Rice: For the sushi rice itself, it is flavored with red vingar and soy sauce a bit already so it comes with some flavor. I didn't need to dip it in soy sauce that much, just small dips. The rice texture here isn't too soft. Still holds firm and has some chew to it. Your nigiri won't break apart when picking it up because it isn't overcooked for sure. For me, i don't mind when sushi rice is on the firmer side. However, i wish all the grains of rice were the same cook. Some grains were soft some were firm so I don't know if they cooked two batches of rice and mixed it in one big batch. Not bad overall, just this is the only thing i would fault them. Overall, for 600 i'm surprised how amazing it is and i would definitely repeat again. This is such an underrated...
Read moreThe taste of Suki soup is average. I give 5 stars for my order A4 beef. But others just so so. Actually i would like to order A5 beef but the waitress couldn't describe the offering menu and not clear for the "Buffet" word that she said, even I tried to ask twice, so I decided to order set shabu is easier. Sushi is okay
While I was eating a waitress cleared the empty dishes. She took a dish which there was still some left. This is not a big deal but I have to confess that it make me feel uncomfortable. As the other empty dishes I put them at the end of the table ready to clear but this dish was in front of my hand. At last she realized that there was some left but i told her to take it as i didn't want to eat it anymore. If she was not sure she should leave it first or asked me first.
The atmosphere is great. Plenty...
Read moreSousaku offers a commendable selection of premium beef for sukiyaki and great sushi/sashimi options. However, the restaurant's attempt to excel in both realms somewhat dilutes the ‘wow’ factor of each.
I would say that Sousaku is a viable option for those seeking a dual craving fix, sukiyaki and sushi/sashimi. However, I wouldn’t visit Sousaku if I wanted only sukiyaki OR sushi/sashimi that day.
Also they have Wasabi flavored icecream… which is quite interesting if you’re feeling adventurous. I would suggest sharing the wasabi icecream because when I ordered it, it was challenging for me to...
