Amazing Food, Terrible Service, and Disappointing Atmosphere
I had heard so much hype about 'Iam Pochana' and their legendary Chinese cuisine, especially their hot pot style.
Let me tell you, the food was absolutely incredible! I've had my fair share of hot pots before, but Iam Pochana took it to a whole new level. The meats were thinly sliced by hand, giving them a unique and perfect imperfection. We ended up ordering three big sets, and I would easily give them a 5-star rating for the food alone.
Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for the service. The servers were incredibly rude and seemed to have no concept of customer service. It felt like they were just there to handle the food, without any care for the customers' experience.
And the atmosphere was a real setback. We were seated on the street, and to make matters worse, cars were zooming by just inches away from our table. It was quite frustrating and made it difficult to fully enjoy our meal.
While the food lived up to its reputation, the service and atmosphere were major...
Read moreAmazing dipping sauce. Not a whole lot of variety in terms of protein for the bbq. Squid and prawn were literally the only seafood left on the menu (for both bbq and a la carte), which was a bit of a shame as we were really looking forward to lots of their seafood menu. So you may want to call them up in advance to ask for availability if there's anything you specifically want to try out. You get a very local half Thai-Chinese vibe from this restaurant. I highly recommend you get a table outside as it gets fairly warm inside. The atmosphere was very pleasant until I saw a rat running across the street in front of the shop 😅 Please also note that while this shop accept QR transfer, this option is only available up until midnight. Overall the food is nice, some item on the menu is a little pricey but still taste pretty nice. Would recommend if you happen to be stumbling...
Read moreA bit overrated thanks to many food vloggers over the years who have hyped up this place a bit too much... It feels more authentic than the hustle and bustle of the very touristy Yaowarat (Bangkok's Chinatown) and it's open late in the evening (until 3am according to Google Maps). Many locals sit there and enjoy their meals with friends. Although there are choices for solo guests, I wouldn't recommend it if you are by yourself because hot pots are suited for a larger group of individuals to share/eat.
I ordered chicken Garlic with rice which tasted decent and almost too bland for my tastebuds, so nothing extraordinary (3 stars), and a large Chang beer because I needed it badly. The service was excellent (5 stars) and the staff were attentive and friendly. I would recommend this place but I wouldn't recommend it alone. Go with your friends and...
