OK, it's a few days into the Songkran Festival 2025 and this night market street is one of the most ubiquitous tourist traps in Hua Hin town.
Maybe the chefs and the waiters are experiencing a bit of Songkran and tourist fatigue, but this time the experience at Hua Hin Seafood restaurant wasn't fantastic.
We sat upstairs at the balcony overlooking the night market street. This seating arrangement was pretty good and the atmosphere upstairs is better than downstairs.
There were four of us; two drinking small bottles of Beer Chang - several rounds and two drinking soda water. We each ordered different dishes; one friend ordered the fried seabass in sweet and sour sauce, he said it was pretty good. Another friend ordered some different types of stir fried mussels and shellfish, while a third friend ordered one of the T-bone steaks and a plate of crab fried rice. He noted that his piece of steak was a bit fatty and gristley.
I ordered a plate of Crab Meat Stir Fried in Curry Powder Sauce. Neua Boo Pad Pong Karee And I got an order of plain rice.
I only took a photo of my dish.
Although the crab meat tasted fresh, the curry sauce was really dry when it should have been creamy. There were a lot of onions and carrots that overwhelmed the little bits of crab meat. I would give this dish a generous 3 / 5 stars.
Although the restaurant wasn't very crowded, the service was a bit slow. It took a long time to get our food and it took a long time for the bill to come when we wanted to leave.
Still, the waiters were friendly and I already mentioned that the second floor balcony had good atmosphere.
Maybe choose to eat here if you see a delicious looking piece of seafood in the display. Otherwise, it's sort of a tourist focused place.
My crab meat curry dish was 200 Baht, my rice was 15 Baht and my soda water was 20 Baht. Not too expensive, but our total bill...
Read moreI regularly go to Hua Hin but unfortunately this time I got caught by those baiters on the street because my partner wanted to eat crab. We ordered crab spicy and chicken massaman. They came to show the two crabs first....and were surprised that my wife first felt if the crabs were fresh. Afterwards you realize why they looked so strange at my partner's reaction. But at that moment we had not read the bad comments yet. The chicken massaman medium spicy, was first of all not spicy and a much too diluted massaman sauce and much too sweet (so much too much sugar added). The amount of this large portion was certainly ok, but since we are used to eating quality massaman I still write this comment. This restaurant is a tourist trap for people who do not know real Thai food. I already said during the meal that I did not find it particularly tasty and also afterwards in detail when they came to apologize.
We will certainly never go back there...not even when they said "come back tomorrow, then better" Afterwards I went to the toilet and I wondered how bad it would be in the kitchen if the toilets were already so terrible. Hygiene is clearly not the first priority. If I had gone to the toilet first I would certainly not have...
Read moreThe place stands out with its attractive terrace, but unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. We ordered several dishes, including a grilled seafood platter, a salad with clams, fried rice, and shrimp spring rolls. The grilled fish tasted as if it had been boiled, the shrimp were overcooked, and most of the mussels didn’t even open. Nothing had any real flavor. The clams salad was ridiculously spicy, seemingly an attempt to mask the fact that the seafood wasn’t fresh. A few hours later, I experienced severe stomach pain that lasted for two days!. To make matters worse, our waiter spent the entire time on his phone, ignoring our attempts to get his attention. I travel regularly throughout Asia, and this has been the worst culinary experience I’ve ever had. Avoid this restaurant...
