Ok so I've eaten lots of great food around the world including purely local Thai places around Thailand, Bangkok, etc, if you had to eat only one place while in hua hin you should just eat here. And no I'm not one of those people that say everything is the best. I actually have a very high and critical standard for food. I'm Chinese and eat a wide variety of cuisine, western, European, china food, Thai food, Singaporean/msian/hk food, jap food, Michelin here and there. I've eaten many Thai places in my years visiting Thailand. My palate is very wide and discerning. So the quickest way to describe the food here is really elevated local Thai food cooked by a really skilled and also trained chef with a looong and passionate experience. Yes I've eaten at several Michelin places in Bangkok, including arhan, but the food there pales in comparison to here, and waaaay more expensive. This place is so wonderful I'm contemplating not writing this review hoping to gatekeep lmao. Chef's skill level is akin to those high lvl Cantonese chefs combined with Thai roots of dishes and flavours. Chef used to be in I think new Zealand for some time but I heard he worked in many countries. The flavours pack a bomb and are balanced very well. It's not purely authentic simple Thai but very elevated in a very non-complicated way, preserving the local-style with the chef's international experience but also his Thai roots. He emphasizes on effort and great ingredients and you can definitely taste it.

  1. the curry puff, first bite I know it's something different. I was guessing croissant pastry. Upon discussion with the chef, he confirmed it's Abit of a fusion - croissant pastry with Thai style and flavours. Probably the best curry puff I've had. Super fluffy and soft.
  2. mango curry, crazy good. Normally I'm not a big fan of Thai curry but here it's very unique and huge depth of flavour. Just the right level of tang. Chef says he doesn't use white sugar in his food. Only palm sugar and the best ingredients. You can taste the complexity.
  3. Tom yum soup - really good balance of flavours with a touch of European technique (cream at the end), thickens the soup just right.
  4. some pork belly with chilli garlic something. Really nice, deep flavours balanced with a nice acidity from Chinese wine (I guessed) and chef confirms it. Very nice salty depth of flavour from the dark soya sauce, oyster sauce balanced by the acidity. Perfect. My favourite flavouring of the night.
  5. stir fried morning glory Thai style. Excellent, similar to the pork belly dish. Strong flavour balanced by the acidity of some Chinese wine. Next time I will request for sliced red chilli.
  6. tamarind prawns could be better. Lacked a punch compared to the other dishes. Maybe could use more sauce but I didn't really care cuz the other dishes were so outstanding.

Service was excellent and the chef was extremely friendly and passionate. Walked around to ask guests how was their meal. And the staff was super attentive and nice as well.

10/10 will recommend and this place is now a must return everytime I visit hua hin or want to recommend someplace to eat. Do make reservations and prepare to wait Abit. Only...

Ken's Kitchen is a culinary gem that transports your taste buds straight to the heart of Thailand. From the moment you step inside this cozy eatery, you're greeted with warm smiles and an ambiance that oozes authenticity.

The menu at Ken's Kitchen reads like a love letter to Thai cuisine, and every dish is a masterpiece in its own right. I started my culinary journey with the green curry, and the explosion of flavors was simply breathtaking. The perfect balance of spicy, sour, and savory made my taste buds dance with delight.

For the main course, I couldn't resist trying the Panang curry- a true test of any Thai restaurant's prowess. Ken's Kitchen aced it with flying colors. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the medley of shrimp, tofu, and crushed peanuts created a harmonious symphony of textures and tastes.

The mongo Curry with tender pieces of chicken was another revelation. The creamy coconut milk base was infused with aromatic herbs and spices, leaving a lingering, delightful aftertaste.

Ken's Kitchen doesn't just excel in the classics; they also offer a tantalizing array of lesser-known Thai dishes. The Larb Gai salad was a delightful surprise, with its minced chicken, fresh herbs, and zesty lime dressing. It was a refreshing and healthy choice.

To complement the meal, I indulged in a Thai iced tea that was both creamy and sweet, providing a pleasant contrast to the spiciness of some dishes.

What truly sets Ken's Kitchen apart is the authenticity of the flavors. You can tell that the chefs here take great pride in their craft, using the freshest ingredients and traditional recipes to create dishes that transport you straight to Thailand.

In addition to the extraordinary food, the service was impeccable. The staff's knowledge of the menu and their willingness to cater to individual preferences made the dining experience all the more enjoyable.

Ken's Kitchen is a hidden treasure for anyone seeking an unforgettable Thai dining experience. Whether you're a Thai food connoisseur or a novice, this restaurant will leave you craving more. Every bite is a journey to the vibrant streets of Thailand, making Ken's Kitchen a must-visit culinary...

Ken's Kitchen was a delightful surprise from start to finish. Despite arriving without a reservation, the friendly staff managed to accommodate us, a testament to their excellent service. Ken's Kitchen was a delightful surprise from start to finish. Arriving without a reservation, we were initially met with disappointment. However, the restaurant's accommodating staff quickly turned our frown upside down by finding us a table. Their flexibility and warm welcome set a positive tone for the evening.

We were eager to dive into the blackboard specials, and we weren't disappointed. The Seafood Casserole was an indulgent treat, packed with an abundance of fresh seafood. Every bite was a flavor-filled delight. The Sea Bass Fillet was cooked to perfection, the accompanying Ken's Special Sauce adding a tantalizing complexity to the dish.

The atmosphere at Ken's Kitchen was cozy and inviting, creating the perfect backdrop for a memorable dining experience. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing our enjoyment of the meal. If you're a seafood lover seeking a truly satisfying culinary adventure, I wholeheartedly recommend giving Ken's Kitchen a try. Just remember to make a reservation if possible, or you can wing it and hope they can spare a table so you can experience this hidden gem. Our evening was made even better by their whiteboard specials. The Seafood Casserole was a creamy, flavorful masterpiece, brimming with fresh seafood. If you're looking for exceptional seafood in a welcoming atmosphere, Ken's Kitchen is a must-visit. Just be sure to make a reservation if you can, but don't worry if you can't – their hospitality is as impressive...

I am not sure how long Ken's Kitchen has been open, but we have been coming to Hua Hin for over 20 years, and this is the first time we have eaten here. Now that we have, it will be a regular evening whenever we visit. Food: 5 stars. Ken specializes in higher-end Thai food at reasonable prices and does it well. We tried some of the recommended dishes, and the Mango Curry (with chicken) stood out as unique and very good. Our other dishes were also tasty, but I was slightly disappointed with the seafood casserole. It was a bit 'meh' for me. My Thai wife did not understand what Ken was trying to do with this dish. Overall, the dishes were well-presented and delicious, especially for the price. Service: 5 stars. Ken will likely greet you as you arrive. The staff was attentive without being obtrusive. The appetizers arrived very quickly, but the mains took some time. But, hey, we were on vacation. Chill. Atmosphere: Think old shop house. The decor is tasteful. There are only 10 tables, so a reservation is necessary, at least during the high season. Overall, we had one of the best Thai food experiences in Hua Hin at Ken's Kitchen. The bill was shockingly inexpensive for the quality. (Which was good, as Ken's does not take credit cards). We will definitely make this restaurant part of our regular rotation whenever we are in town.
