I tried this place, as the others were fully occupied. Came to order food. It is being done by the phone, they don't have physical menus. So going out to enjoy the outdoors but being forced to stick your head back into the phone.
Food was a bit pricey but i said fine, and ordered 3 dishes to have together. No one else had food but my table. After about 30 minutes only one dish came, so i kept it covered so it doesn't get cold until the others arrive. 10 mins later, they start serving many dishes to a newly arrived group. I asked what's happening with my food, and the waitress said it's about the que of people. If is a que, then all my dishes supposed to come out before moving on to the next queued person. I waited 10 more mins then went to ask the waitress again. Food was already cold and the waitress started to arguea so i went ahead to cancel the entire order. No one else had ordered food through the entire stay but me and that group. So either staff is incompetent or ignorant or both . The waiter guy was ok.
Location is by the river, nothing fancy.
Ambiance: no live band, no singer, just a speaker for music.
Overall: pricey, badly managed, nothing special, very...
Read moreWell-hidden riverside dive bar perfect for beers and snacks at sunset. You can walk here from the Hua Lamphong subway station in less than 15 minutes, or else get a ride to Wat Pathum Khongkha (วัดปทุมคงคาราชวรวิหาร). Upon reaching the Wat, keep the temple on your left and walk along Song Wat Road until you find the little Patumkongka Community Police Station (GPS 13.73655, 100.51032 – it has a sign in English and Thai on the roof). Walk down Soi Kang Wat Pathum Khongkha, a short dead-end street by the station. Take the path going left when you reach the small scrap metal yard. By then, you should already see a small yellow “cafe & meal samsara” sign. Continue following that path as it bends and you will soon find the weathered wooden entrance to Samsara on your right. Walk inside and get a seat as close to the river as possible. Take some time to look over the entire eclectic collection of European beers in the cooler before choosing one, and definitely order some food. A wonderfully scruffy place to unwind and watch the boats...
Read moreLove love love this place! A bit difficult to find despite the help of google map. I got super lost in incredible narrow alleys but all the efforts are totally worth it(Thanks to the help from many non-English speaking residents). The moment I entered the entrance, I can immediately hear the rhythm of the river under the floor. This is quite magical. The terrace and the view are so breathtaking. When I arrived, there were only 2 customers and quite a few cats enjoying the sunset. The boats of all sizes comes and goes. Hundreds of fishes jump out of water. With a bottle of beer and fried chicken wings, life can’t be more perfect. If you are seeking for peace or an oasis for your soul in the hassle city life, this is the place to go. For sure my favorite secrete...
