Missing the Toasted Bread from Mont Nom Sod as I was writing the caption! Honestly, I never thought something as simple as toast with spread and a bottle of milk could be that addictive & satisfying! This place is forever packed but trust us on this one: if you see lots of locals queuing at the shop, it’s a must-try! 👌We were spoilt for choice with their variety of delicious fillings but settled for their Original Coconut Custard and Pandan Coconut Custard. The thick-cut toast was soft and fluffy while slightly crispy on the edges, and the buttery fragrance stood out! The glut of custard dip/“sangkaya” atop the bread was AMAZING 👏🏻- so velvety smooth and packed with a strong coconut taste, though less sweet than the usual kaya spread in Singapore. The best part? Each toast costs only 25THB - just slightly over $1 for something so ridiculously yummy! 💚🍞 My lactose-intolerant tummy might not approve, but it was worth getting their warm Unsweetened Fresh Milk. I enjoyed how the milky richness paired well with the toast. . 📍 Address: 160, 1-3 Dinso Rd, Khwaeng Sao Chingcha, Khet Phra Nakhon, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10200, Thailand,...
Read moreDuring my stay in Bangkok I visited this place a few times. It’s so popular, almost always full. Mostly local crowd but can see tourists too. I had seen a video about steamed bread cubes and dip being really famous in Bangkok but I just happened to come across this place in Dinso road as I was staying nearby. I’ve tried steamed and toast with egg coconut custard and pandan custard, not too sweet so I liked it. The staff is very efficient and they handle the crowd well. For larger groups they give token outside the store to help with their seating. Since there are so many people coming here you can’t sit here too long, just finish your dish and leave soon as a courtesy to those waiting. The toast with sugar costs just 25 thb, other toasts with different toppings cost around 30 thb and steamed bread with dip costs 70-80 thb. Very nice place with a one of its kind dish, be...
Read moreNostalgia from childhood! It feels like my tastes have changed with age. As a kid, I loved buttered bread with sugar and condensed milk, but as I grew older, I started to enjoy marmalade and chocolate. Recently, I went back and found that I now like the steamed bread with Khaya custard the most. The toasted bread felt kind of flat and lacked body, but the flavor is comforting because it reminds me of what I had as a kid. As for the drinks, they’re a bit too sweet. A hot milk drink is the best option for me to balance out with the bread. The pudding is delicious, more like jelly than creamy flan/ custard, which gives a refreshing taste that suits Thailand’s weather. The chocolate one is the best to try. The place may seem crowded, but the queue moves quickly. No matter when you go, you won’t be...
