La Luna italian restaurant & accommodation — Restaurant in Satun Province

I recently had the pleasure of staying at “La Luna", and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations! The highlight of our stay was the incredible hospitality shown by Mr. David, the owner. His warm welcome, extensive local knowledge, and engaging conversations truly added a personal touch to our experience.

The housekeeping service was nothing short of excellent. Every corner of our room was impeccably clean, organized, and infused with a pleasant scent that made us feel right at home. The attention to detail was remarkable.

What also stood out was the location of "La Luna". Perfectly situated close to the island's main street, it provided easy access to the beautiful beaches, including the renowned Sunset Beach. This convenience significantly enhanced our island adventure.

The breakfast, though simple, was delightful. The croissants were always served warm, which was a lovely start to our mornings. It's these small touches that made a big difference.

The place is a bit off of walking street and could do with a redesign. I arrived early (6.30pm) and it felt like I was bothering the staff. The tables just had an old piece of cloth on then, no setup, not inviting at all. Staff seemed to not care about serving customers, no smiles Had to send the white wine by the glass back, it was awful. Later tasted the red by the glass, was awful as well. Had a bottle of Pino Grigio. It was alright but overpriced. Food itself was so so. My friend had raviolis with cream sauce which he liked and I the spaghetti vongole. The pasta was undercooked (not al dents, simply undercooked), the clams were good and the sauce too but too salty. We were still hungry after the pasta (bad sign as it is not positioned as a primo piati/ starter). We shared a paltry Queen pizza. Dough was ok. I wasn't sure what to expect, though from the reviews it seemed really nice. The restaurant is attractively designed and decorated. The staff is friendly and helpful. I ordered spaghetti. The food itself was a bit of a dissapointment, even though it was nice to taste these flavors in such a remote area. The spaghetti was slightly undercooked and, in combination with the sauce, tasted basically like spaghetti I make at home. The portion was also very small. I realize that Koh Lipe is a highly unusual location for an Italian restaurant, which does change my view of it a bit.
