Madame Yoohoo — Restaurant in Ko Lipe

We heard from multiple blogs, travel sites, and word of mouth recommendations that this was the best value dinner spot on the island. Can't say I agree. True, the food was cheap, and it tasted good... but let me speak for a moment on portion size. I regret not taking a picture to provide evidence of the pitiful amount of cashew chicken I received. It seemed like half the dish had spilled out of the pan while cooking and they just never bothered to refill it. Literally took about 4 mouthfuls to empty my plate. My wife's portion size was fine/typical, so clearly this wasn't a problem with value, but rather with quality control. With a haphazard waiting service adding to the kitchen problems, I also was not impressed with the overall management on a busy dinner shift. The smoothie station (which seemed to be operating on its own schedule) definitely saved my rating of this place, though, because they were helpful, attentive, and quick to serve. The old lady is sweet and cute but two times had issues. First I ordered a shake and they just poured some coconut milk and added ice. So cheap and bad I didn’t even want to pay but did of course. Everywhere else will make with fresh coconut. Second, got a breakfast here that was supposed to come with orange juice. Halfway through my meal I asked about it and they sent someone to go buy oranges. I saw him cough real grossly in both his hands and then start hand squeezing my orange juice so I stopped him. Five minutes later all upset he brings me three oranges in gloves and says in a snippy voice I have gloves on and give you oranges and walks away. I say I’d still just like orange juice. Could have just had the girl next to him make it or the real problem that wouldn’t even occur to them - actually wash your hands. I don’t think they really do that at all probably anywhere on the island before they work with food, but this was absurd. One of my worst rude restaurant...

Before I came to Lipe, I watched Youtuber recommendation. When I check out Google reviews, I can't believe the bad reviews. Yesterday I gave Mdm Yoohoo a try. It's true, the service is bad, I ordered a massaman curry and I got green curry instead. Told the staff 2x that the order was wrong. She ignored me, so I decided to be a nice customer and just eat the green curry. However, the green curry was diluted with water. So I told the same staff again x2. She just gave me a look and never bothered. Finally, I told the counter staff that I was not going to pay for the green curry. At least the counter staff apologised and honoured to cancel it. My order orders are hamburger, and chicken burger with fries are mediocre. Thai seafood salad is smaller than my palm of my hand.

I pity Mdm Yoohoo, her name and face is on the menu and shop slogan. Yet the staff and food are such poor quality...
