Sadly I hardly can recommend Roux’s to anyone I know, and I feel I have a responsibility to give you authentic review before you decide to visit this place.
I first saw Roux’s on IG through their ads. Then my friend told me about this shop just a day later, unfortunately he warned me not to go there. Why? He told me the shop is nice decorative, the signature mushroom plate is definitely delicious, but other menu are nothing extraordinary compared to their price (and he’s not a price sensitive customer)
Do I listen to him? No. So I went to Roux’s that evening with my girlfriend.
And my friend was right. The shop looks nice. The mushroom plate is great… but that is… just that. I’m not saying it’s a bad place or overpriced. It just - for me - underdelivered.
If I go a little deeper in detail, I noticed that every menu use only cheap ingredients, cheap chicken, cheap part of meat, cheap salmon, cheap flour, but sell at premium prices.
Normally if restaurants choose to give customers cheap grade ingredients, their recipes or cooking skills must be on another level. But sadly I can’t find any of those evidence there, at least not in the day I dropped by.
I try to think - Who is the ideal target customer of this place? Who would enjoy this kind of food experience?
And I think some IG hopping might love it. Roux’s gives you a really nice food pictures. Its pricy style menu might make you feel “valued” in someway somehow, especially if someone brings you there and pay the bills for you.
To be fair, for someone who looking for a truly nice place to have a memorable dinner like me, this place is far from deliver that experience. In other words, I’m not a target customer of Roux’s.
Sorry to give this place a not so good rating, but giving facts to other people is why reviewing is worth to...
Read moreROUX’S left a lasting impression from the very first moment I stepped inside. The atmosphere is warm, calm, and stylishly designed. Even though the restaurant is located right in the heart of the city, once you walk in, it feels peaceful and inviting—like stepping away from the city’s hustle and bustle.
What truly stood out for me was the service. The staff are well-groomed, neatly dressed in uniforms, polite, and always smiling. Their attentiveness makes the experience even more pleasant. If you are unsure what to order, they are more than happy to recommend dishes with confidence and friendliness. It’s clear that they have been well-trained. One suggestion for improvement would be to ask guests about food allergies or to double-check the menu when serving, as this would make the service even more flawless.
As for the food, it was excellent—flavorful, well-prepared, and made with fresh ingredients. Every dish was both delicious and thoughtfully presented. The restaurant is relatively small, so tables are close together, which can make the space a bit lively with conversations. Still, it adds to the energetic, joyful atmosphere as every table seems to be enjoying themselves.
The restroom was clean and well-maintained, though parking can be a little challenging. That said, these minor inconveniences are outweighed by the overall experience. ROUX’S is definitely a place worth visiting if you’re looking for a restaurant that combines great food, outstanding service, and a...
Read moreROUX’S is a gem for anyone craving a refined blend of Japanese and modern European cuisine. The concept of “Japanized-Western” dishes really shines through with thoughtful presentation and layered flavors in every bite.
Everything we ordered was spot-on. The beef tartare was silky, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The burrata salad was fresh and creamy, offering a refreshing contrast to the richer plates. Don’t miss the ebi bomb – crispy, juicy, and packed with umami. The parma korokke was a standout – crunchy on the outside, rich and savory inside.
For mains, the seafood risotto was cooked just right, brimming with flavor and seafood. The gyutan (beef tongue) was tender with a great char – truly a comforting dish. We finished with the castella cake and yuzu ice cream, which was a perfect end – light, citrusy, and not overly sweet.
Service was excellent throughout – attentive without being intrusive, and the staff clearly knew their menu well.
Highly recommended if you’re into creative, well-executed fusion cuisine. Pricey? Maybe a bit. Worth...
