The Meatchop Butcher & Spirits — Restaurant in Si Lom Subdistrict

We celebrated our monthly anniversary here yesterday, We travel a lot and come to Bangkok pretty often , I have to say we are really happy with the service. From the moment we step inside , we were warmly greeted by this young lady with her bright smile . (didn’t catch her name unfortunately, but she was wearing the white t shirt uniform of meat chop ) Firstly, I have to mention , she is the first person in Bangkok when I entered the restaurant she spoke to me in English & did not assume I am Thai ( because I am not Thai ) but many other restaurants just start speaking Thai to me every time I step my foot in. I think restaurants can learn from here you do not assume all customers are Thai when they look asian. Secondly, she is quick & very switched on at her role, drinks are refilled as soon as she seems empty glass , she spoke & understand English very well so you no need to repeat yourself over and over again . She came and informed me my steak will be around 4 mins because my partners food came before mine which I really appreciate and I didn’t need to ask her to refill my spoon & fork that was missing after the starters .

Devil are in the details. Especially for people like us we notice absolutely everything 😆😉

I can assure you we been to more expensive & fancier places but the services were not as up to their game as they should be.

Food was absolutely delicious, I understand it can be difficult to find a decent place for steak when you traveling in south east Asia , but I have to say meat chop lived up to the expectations! It is international standards for a good steak ! Meat is quality & When I asked for medium rare is medium rare, presentation are instagrammable & edgy.

Let’s not forget to mention the fries & lemon tart , the lemon tart just like the one I used to get from my favourite pastry shop!!!! 🍋

One of the gentleman gave us 2 glasses of champagne on the house as a gesture for our anniversary, sadly we had to drive so we couldn’t finish it all but Thank you so much it was delicious ! 😋

Overall my experience here left a lot to be desired. I've never seen an establishment that prides itself on steak... sell out of so many steak options before. Additionally this restaurant lacks basic serving etiquette. We had a party of 7 and my entrée came before my appetizers and all of my food (entrée and appetizers) came before any food got to the rest of my party. I was done eating my food before my party even got any of their food so I sat around for 30-45 minutes watching my party eat which is ABSOLUTELY INEXCUSABLE. Strike 1 was that an entrée should never come before an appetizer.... Strike 2 was all my food came before anyone else got anything... Strike 3 was that the service was extremely slow, took about 10 minutes to get a menu, took another 10 minutes to get our drinks (which the waitress got annoyed at because there was miscommunication within their team)... I don't know how this place got rated so highly... I'll give them that they know how to cook... Almost everything served tasted good but would I come here again? Absolutely not... They did have a half-hearted attempt to appease us by giving us a couple of complimentary apple tarts but even those were just okay... the service and lack of basic serving etiquette outweighs the taste of the food...
