My wife and I typically dine at Took Lae Dee located in the Foodland Sukhumvit 16 branch. This time, we decided to try their new branch, which has been open for a year and a half. We had no idea it was so close to our restaurant! The facility is quite new, inviting, and contemporary, in contrast to the one located at the Sukhumvit 16 branch.
Took Lae Dee, located within the Foodland supermarket in Park Silom, is well-known for its affordable and tasty meals, available 24 hours a day.
The name “Took Lae Dee” translates to “cheap and good” in Thai, which reflects its reputation for providing quality food at a low price. It has a diner-style setup with counter seating, making it a favorite spot for quick, satisfying meals.
Here are some highlights of Took Lae Dee at Park Silom:

Read moreUnlike many other places in Thailand, the restaurant was understaffed for how busy it was. We got a booth amd menus almost immediately, but it took over 10 minutes for a server to come to the table. We placed an order and it took over 20 minutes for the order to arrive. The order was incomplete and the staff did not bring requested condiments. I gave up trying to flag our server and retrieved some of the condiment items from another table myself. The food was adequate (excepting the missing order of rice and plain fish sauce that never arrived). If took another 10 minutes after eating our mains to flag down a server to order a dessert and some cold water. Once these items were delivered to the table, flagging down another server for more water became too inconvenient for us to bother. I would have spoken to the manager, but she was busy dealing with a film production crew that showed up with a huge cart of production gear (possibly to film a promotion or commercial). We simply paid the bill and left...
Read moreGreat Cafe beside Foodland on groundfloor of the newly built The Park Shopping complex on Silom Road. Having known Bangkok for over five decades, this project surprised me. It's neat, versatile - there a lots of Korean bake shops and cafes here with a good variety of bakeries. Very conveniently located down from BTS Saladaeng it can be reached with a few steps. I ordered the Thai rice congee with chicken kao tom gai and the City breakfast with coffee. Prices are reasonable for Bangkok with 200 Baht for the two choices. Five...
