Wanted comfort food on a rainy day... but this wasn’t it for me.
I was craving something warm, different, and comforting — so I stopped by VT Namnueng, a Thai-Vietnamese fusion restaurant that seems quite popular with locals, especially for take-away.
Inside, a few people were enjoying their pork sausage wraps with Thai herbs — which looked like the local favorite. I might have just followed the local’s choices.
Instead Here’s what I tried: 🥟 Rice paper dumplings – reminded me of dim sum. 7/10 🌿 Pork mince basil rolls with vermicelli – very authentic, but the spices were overpowering for me. 6/10 🥩 Beef pho – The beef itself was actually tender and high quality, but… it really didn’t feel like pho. There were way more cabbage leaves than noodles, and it tasted more like a cabbage soup than a comforting bowl of pho. I couldn’t even find the noodles easily. This MUST be changed immediately or taken out from the menu… 1/10
🧼 The biggest issue for me? The smell and cleanliness inside the shop. As soon as I walked in, there was a lingering odor that felt unpleasant. I almost walked back out.
👩🍳 On the bright side: the staff were very friendly, and tried to explain the ingredients with care, which I appreciated.
