First of all I have to tell you this place is small. If you're coming during a special night where there's music and want to be where they're playing you need to get a reservation.
Owner is very friendly as well as the staff. They had a hamburger special high quality meat grilled over an open flame. Small quantity but very very tasty. I wasn't planning on eating when I saw somebody else's order I had to try their hamburgers.
That evening was jazz night and the music was so so but the ambience and the food waswhat made the night enjoyable. Owner was very accommodating and even though there was a screw-up with the reservation which I made at the last momentwe were seated in a great seat with no problem.
there are three floors so if the bottom floor is busy there's another two floors to accommodateso no worries if you don't have a reservation. Would highly recommend giving...
Read moreThis bar has a warm old fashioned atmosphere. The have small tables at the ground floor. I sat at the bar and order a classic drink. It was ok, nothing exceptional. They have a menu with several house cocktails. All the drinks are a bit pricy, starting from $10, but for Bangkok is probably the norm. Live jazz music starts from Wednesdays till weekends. The musicians are very good. What I've found awkward was that a few minutes after the band starts playing at 21:00 they will ask you to pay a ticket of 200 Bhat if you are at the ground floor. You don't have to pay it at the upper floor where you hear the music but not see the band. I guess in Bangkok it's normal to pay extra in a bar to see the show. Did I enjoy the drink and the atmosphere? Absolutely yes. Will I go back? Maybe not when there is...
Read moreI’ve been to Small’s a few dozen times by now. It’s easily one of my favourite bars in the city to see live music. Until recently I couldn’t quite put my finger on why this place works so well as a venue, especially given the fact they don’t really have a dedicated stage for performers. But last night I was watching a great band and realized that a lot of Small’s appeal is that it almost feels like you’re at a house party with friends, grabbing drinks and watching a band together. The vibe is very casual and easy, and it’s pretty normal to find yourself chatting with the people at the table next to you. The cocktail list is large, along with a good beer and wine selection, and the wait staff are very professional and friendly. I’m glad this place has managed to maintain what...
