Togoshiya Onigiri is definitely a hyped spot, and I’d say it delivered to a solid standard. The onigiri were generous, well-filled, and my favourite by far was the egg yolk & beef. Biting into it, the yolk coated the rice perfectly while the beef had just the right seasoning — not too salty or sweet, just balanced to complement the rice. The menu was simple to navigate, so I went for the staff favourite: the cod roe onigiri. It was very salty, maybe an acquired taste, but when paired with miso soup from the set, it all made sense. The miso balanced the richness, and eating them together actually became quite enjoyable. I also tried the fried chicken, which was hyped in reviews. For me, it was just fried chicken done well — crispy, tasty, but nothing extraordinary. The only drawback was the rice shaping. My onigiri lost its form almost immediately, but they were massive and packed with filling, so I can forgive that. Two onigiri are more than enough if you’re planning to try other food in the area. Overall, Togoshiya gave me the best onigiri of my trip. Great flavours, generous portions, and lots of potential to be even better.

We came on a Sunday at about 11am and queued for about an hour to get seats. Fortunately, it was all worth it. We both ordered their largest set of two regular onigiris which also came with miso soup (which can be upgraded - I upgraded mine to the mushroom miso soup), fried chicken and other small side dishes. There was also free flow cold tea/water. For the onigiris, I chose the popular egg yolk& ground chicken and one with grilled cod roe, which I felt complemented each other well. As someone used to eating cold onigiris from convenience stores, this was a new experience. The chicken was also well fried and not too oily. The ordering process was also easy for an English speaker as the options on the tablet were well translated. Given the chance, I would come again. The only change we may make is to probably order a smaller set (there were sets for single regular sized onigiri or multiple small sized ones) for my gf - the portions were generous and my gf had difficulty finishing, as did some of the girls sitting near us.

Amazing onigiri's, made fresh. The ones in the display are at a discount, which makes it an even better deal! I loved stopping by here and grabbing one or two onigiris for later, be for a busy walking day or a late snack. They are packed very nicely and held super well. Konbini onigiri's are mediocre, get the real deal here! Super worth the price! Best thing I did was loading 6 of them on my flight back home. Should have taken 8! Note: If you dine-in, there's a hidden drawer in the counter (in front of every seat) that you order from. If you are ordering fresh to go (instead of picking the ones in the display) then head to the cashier/tablet in the middle of the store and order. Someone will call your number once your pickup is ready.
