India Palace Indian Restaurant Istanbul — Restaurant in Beyoğlu

We, as a group of 20 people, tried Indian Cuisine yesterday. The place was modernized authentic having a Taj Mahal painting on the side wall by the foyer.

Our Indian host organized an open buffet fixed menu. We had salad, raita, naan, chicken biryani, chicken kadhai, daal tarka, and halva.

Naan was freshly baked and was so good. I have been to couple Indian restaurants elsewhere but this Naan was so great.

The rice dish was so rich in terms of flavor and spices. Chicken biryani was ok. Raita was with lots of herbs and veggies. It was pretty good to balance the spices. We finally had the Indian style halva. Not sweet but savory. I believe it includes saffron and curry as the color outcome shows so. It was a unique experience.

In general, it was a very pleasant experience in terms of taste and authenticity. The only downside was: all the dishes missed some sweet flavor. To get to the point Umami taste, I believe this was the only missing part in the menu items.

The personnel was very caring and swift. The tables were clean, and the dining setup was pretty well organized.

In terms of cost benefit-I can tell it was bargain for this much food, service and hospitality.

FOOD i paid 700liras (22€) Like please! I ate mango lassi (it was small and not well mixed and didn't taste like freshly done). Then I had lamb and rice. Rice one has to order extra. Like you see - i eat alone, can you offer me half a portion?!!!!! No! You pay for a double portion. Voilà! Istanbul! Lamb was not fresh. I am expert and it was not fresh. Sorry not sorry. The portion of lamb was very small.

SERVICE the guy was okay but he walked back and forth like 300 times through the hall passing me all the time. I understand it's cold and boring (i was there at around 3:30pm)... But it was very very annoying, if the only person in the room walks constantly back and forth.

ATMOSPHERE well, it was cold, the entrance guy had a winter jacket on, and i also didn't take off my winter jacket. Music/songs from YouTube and Spotify or which channel it was very good though.

India Palace is a gem in Istanbul for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine. The ambiance is warm and inviting, perfect for a cozy dinner or a special occasion.
