Coming from NZ where coffee game is strong and reading all the wonderful reviews - we had big hopes for this place.
Coffee was good, not wow, oat milk wasn’t frothed up to scratch, though it is a hard milk to work with. I did not like attitude of the staff from the beginning, but let it slide.
We have ordered food, which is on the pricier side, cafe was not busy. We waited probably 40 mins Until we reminded them about our order to unbothered staff. And I watched the expressions on the FOH guy. They just forgot to pass our order.
As an excuse - we were told that the kitchen was busy. Unless you guys cook for some other place - there were no clients who ordered food. Most of the clients are digital nomads.
Food was below average to our disappointment. At the end they gave us complimentary coffee - bonus point, though I would just appreciate sincere verbal apology.

There are the odd dodgy, dark, dirty streets but we never felt unsafe, other than potentially slipping on steep cobblestones.
The Old Java Roastery was my definite favourite of all the ones Nat chose this tour. Fantastic music - old school Floyd just seemed so apt for the setting - and the most amazing food! I had pear and banana crepes with soft cheese and they were superb! So much food I really struggled to eat them, the coffee was good too. Nat had gone off to get her hair cut so I was able to eat in peace and enjoy the music but then she got back early so it was back to...
Read moreJava has the best coffee in Istanbul. I just spent a year and a half living and studying there, spending most of my days in cafes across the European and Asian sides. The baristas are infinitely better than any others I was served by, especially when it came to working with non-dairy milks (pictured). The breakfast omelette is delicious, as are the cakes and cookies. The atmosphere is beautiful, especially in the summer when the large side doors are opened. It's conveniently close to Şişhane Metro, Galata Tower, and yet it is never crowded with too many irritating yabanci (like myself)! The staff speak English well enough to serve, but will indulge your attempts to use Turkish if...
