First impressions of the Meroddi Barnathan were good. Mehmet on the front desk was very welcoming and helpful, and escorted us to our rooms after checking. |The rooms were small (1 deluxe tower-facing, 1 junior suite) but seemed fine for the 5 nights we would be there. |The shower takes a bit of getting used to - as it pulses from very strong to 10 seconds to very weak for 20 seconds and repeats that. |The junior suite had 1 electrical problem, the deluxe room had several, including the phone not working to be able to call the reception to tell them. However, these issues were sorted within 24 hours. Room wise - the bed was very hard for me. And with the walking up and down the “San Francisco-like” hills in that area (actually most) of Istanbul, it wasn’t very relaxing to try and recover your muscles when trying to sleep for sure. |Another great positive was both the Guest Relations Team sorted a lovely birthday cake and treats for one of our group who had a birthday on the Saturday we were there, and housekeeping were excellent. Swift and thorough. We once went to breakfast and our room was cleaned and bed remade etc. by the time we were back. |Now .. the not so good. |If you are on the 4th floor, the restaurant is noisy. Couple that with the call to prayer - which could be 04.25am, and it’s tough to get a good nights sleep (they did provide earplugs) - along with the hard bed. |Also, the bar and restaurant was expensive (most of Istanbul is we think!) and slow. We ate on the rooftop bar the first night and it was by far the least liked meal of the 5 day trip. Many items were cold on arrival (like french fries) and nothing was memorable. Bar service the first night was good - from then on slow and sometimes we had to ask for ice for the beer as it wasn’t cold and it was 28C degrees outside. |Breakfast - there is a lot of choice, but of very similar things. If you like a sweet breakfast, then it’s probably better for you than a savoury. We did find out later that you can order omelettes and other things - but we were not told this at the beginning. |Many time we had to ask for tea and coffee. |One of the main negatives though was the lift, and the use of the lift by the staff. And there was no priority for guests using the lift either. |Of course they need to lift for things like trolleys, laundry, heavy items etc. (I guess there is no service lift) but I saw a member of the front desk team take the lift up just 2 floors from 0. In the same lift, another member of staff went to floor 4, none had anything heavy, and both looked perfectly fit - whilst guests were waiting to use the lift. |So - overall this hotel is OK. If you don’t mind steep hills, the surrounding area of this hotel, close to the Galata Tower, is really nice and full of music shops, art shops, and up a little way are some lovely...
Read moreI chose this hotel because I liked the Meroddi hotel chain's proposal to restore old buildings in the Galata area. The restoration is impeccable and every detail is beautiful. It's lovely to see an initiative that values the history of a place rather than simply destroying it, as unfortunately happens in many historic neighborhoods around the world. ||That said, the place is beautiful, in neoclassical style as it was in the 19th century, with the advantage of the comforts of our age (hot water, air conditioning, elevator and wifi).||The terrace is lovely. The view of the city is impressive: almost at the same elevation as the Galata Tower with the advantage of seeing the Galata Tower itself. ||The restaurant is great with very kind staff who managed to get us a table even when it seemed impossible.||The room is very comfortable. The breakfast is sensational. There was a choice of Turkish dishes, which was definitely a plus for us. There's something for everyone, so if you like continental breakfast, you can eat without fear. If you like to explore and discover new things, there's always something delicious to try.||Very kind and attentive staff in the restaurant and especially in the hotel. We would like to thank all the hotel staff who made our stay in the city absolutely unforgettable. I made a special request which was met beyond my expectations. In addition, we were given valuable tips on what to see and do in the city. ||The hotel's location is perfect. We did almost everything on foot and loved exploring the Beyoglu area and also crossing the Galata Bridge to Fatih.||I've read reports that complain about noise but we didn't really hear anything extraordinary - apart from the call to prayer that woke us up every day at five in the morning of course, but that's something you hear absolutely everywhere else in the city - that's why there are so many minarets in Istanbul.||In short: go and enjoy your stay. I can't wait to go back to Istanbul and I'll definitely stay at this hotel again. I highly...
Read moreFirst of all, I have to say that I very rarely post opinions about hotels however in this case I would feel uncomfortable not writing anything about my stay in Meroddi Barnathan Hotel. Generally, I booked a room for me and my family in Meroddi La Porta Hotel in Instambul. However about 2 days before our arrival I got a message statting that due to problem with air conditioning in Meroddi La Porta Hotel they propose ma change of room to Meroddi Barnathan Hotel. After confirmation that such change will not result in additional expenses on my side I accepted this proposition. Therefore I can say anything about Meroddi La Porta Hotel and post review on Booking. But... I can say somthing about Meroddi Barnathan Hotel. Generally, our stay in this hotel was great. We were from 13 to 15 August 2021. The Hotel is next to, not "near" but actually next to Galata Tower, next to the street which change into Istiklal - most turist street in Istambul. The room was not so big, but beatuiful, with paintings on the walls and celling and stylish bathroom. The hotel is in old building, newly renowated (as we were told) with terrace on the top floor with view on Galata Tower. I can same only positive things about our stay in Meroddi Barnathan Hotel. The rooom was great (as I mentioned above), food delicious (breakfast were very tasty, and the resteurant wih view on Galata Tower was very comfortable). But the most important thing for me was service - all people from guys at the reception, through waitresses and cleaning staff were higly proffesionall and helpful. Expecially guys at the reception: Osman, Adil (I don't know if I correctly remember his mane) and one more guy (the youngest, I forget his name) were more than supportive and I got a deep feeling that they consider much about our comfort and generall well-being. I will definetely recommend this hotel and if I will be in Instambul again I will...
