Tatlıcı Safa in Taksim is an absolute gem for anyone who appreciates authentic Turkish desserts. Nestled near the lively heart of Istanbul, this place offers a warm, inviting atmosphere that instantly makes you feel welcome. Whether you're a local or a tourist, stepping into Tatlıcı Safa feels like entering a world where tradition and flavor are deeply respected.
Their selection of desserts is impressive—everything from classic baklava to künefe, şöbiyet, and tulumba is made fresh and with obvious care. The balance of sweetness, the texture of the pastry, and the richness of the ingredients are all spot-on. You can really tell they use high-quality nuts, and the syrup is never too overpowering, which is a common issue at many other places. One of my personal favorites was their pistachio baklava—it was flaky, buttery, and packed with flavor in every bite.
What also stands out is the service. The staff are kind, helpful, and passionate about what they serve. They’re happy to explain the desserts if you’re unsure what to pick, and they do it with a smile. The presentation is traditional yet elegant, and everything feels very clean and well-maintained.
The prices are fair considering the quality, and it's the perfect spot to stop after walking around Taksim Square or Istiklal Street. Whether you sit inside and enjoy a tea with your dessert or take something to go, you’ll leave satisfied.
Tatlıcı Safa isn’t just a dessert shop—it’s an experience that captures the essence of Turkish hospitality and culinary tradition. I’ll definitely be returning whenever I’m in...
Read moreStrolling down Istiklal street I thought I would give this place a try. There was only one table taken in the place, so I walked in past the 3 people at the front and had a seat.
Proceeded to look at the menu, decided what I wanted.
Then I sat there while, while one waiter cleared a table, tried to make eye contact but was ignored.
Sat there a little longer, played with my phone..... waited.
Still nothing.
So decided to leave, gathered up my things and walked out after sitting there for about 5 minutes. Remember there were only 2 other people in the entire place and they were already eating.
As I was walking out, then they decided to notice me, and ask me what I wanted.
I told them that they were obviously too busy, to wait on me, and strolled back out. There are just too many other choices on this street to deal with a shop that ignores you. Especially when the place is pretty much dead on a Monday...
Read moreWithout exaggeration this is the best baklava I have tried in my life. So juicy and rich in taste. I have tried baklavas in many arab/middle eastern countries but nothing comes close to this. We spent 6 days in Istanbul and we kept coming here every day to try different types and flavors. Must try Dondurmali Havuc Dilimi, Soguk baklava, Ev baklavasi and Cevizi baklava! Place is very quiet even though it is located in the middle of Istical street, so I think it could use some background music to get a feeling of...
