Hotel:|The hotel is centrally located, which is its main advantage. However, it is clearly aging and in need of updates. The overall appearance and condition do not match the standards of a four-star hotel.||Room:|The room itself was disappointing. It felt outdated, and there were significant cleanliness issues. Upon arrival, we noticed fingerprints on the mirrors, and despite our five-day stay, they were never cleaned. The room also had a strong cigarette odor, as if someone had been smoking inside, even though it was a non-smoking room. This was very unpleasant for us.||View:|The view from our room was quite nice, but it was overshadowed by the many problems with the room itself.||Bathroom:|The bathroom was poorly designed. There was no hot water at the sink, making it impossible to wash hands or face comfortably. Additionally, the toilet area was cramped. When sitting on the toilet, there was barely any legroom due to the proximity of the sink, which made it very uncomfortable.||Noise:|The sound insulation in the hotel is terrible. We were on a high floor, yet we could hear loud music from a nightclub until 2 AM, making it very difficult to sleep. On top of that, there was constant noise from outside traffic, which made the room feel even less peaceful.||Breakfast:|While the breakfast was decent on most days, the morning we left early was a disappointment. The pastries seemed to be from the previous day, which is unacceptable for a hotel that claims to be four-star.||Pool:|The hotel advertises a pool, but it was not usable. The water was very cold, and it didn’t seem like it was intended for swimming, which was disappointing.||Rooftop:|Although the hotel promotes its rooftop as a highlight, we were unable to access it after 6 PM. This was very frustrating, as we expected to enjoy the rooftop in the evening, but it was closed off to guests.||Customer Service:|Throughout our stay, we experienced poor customer service. Every time we approached the reception with our concerns (the noise, cigarette smell, lack of cleanliness, and no hot water), we were brushed off. We were often told to come back later or the next day, but no action was ever taken to resolve the issues.||In summary:|The location is great, but the hotel is aging and in serious need of improvements. The poor sound insulation, lack of cleanliness, and subpar customer service made our stay less enjoyable. For a hotel that markets itself as a four-star establishment, it fell far short of...

Read moreHotel Review: Marmara Pera, Istanbul
My recent stay at the Marmara Pera Hotel in Istanbul was a mixed experience. There were several positive aspects, but unfortunately, some negative incidents marred our overall impression.
Positive Experiences:
Firstly, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mr. Duran at the front desk. From ensuring a smooth check-in process to providing helpful advice on getting around the city, and even accommodating a late check-out, Mr. Duran’s assistance was exemplary. His kindness and professionalism made a significant difference to our stay.
The housekeeping staff also deserves a mention for their diligence and responsiveness. They were attentive to our needs, maintaining the cleanliness and comfort of our room throughout our stay.
Negative Experiences:
Regrettably, our experience at the breakfast buffet was far less pleasant. The staff at the buffet were discourteous and inconsiderate, particularly regarding our simple vegetarian dietary requirements. One incident stands out: my 10-year-old daughter went to get some potato wedges just before closing time, and the staff member rudely removed the pot, stating that the buffet time was over. Although she eventually made some more wedges upon request, her attitude was unprofessional and unwelcoming.
The behavior of the management team at the buffet was equally disappointing. Instead of addressing our concerns and assisting us, they were seen giggling amongst themselves, displaying a lack of respect and understanding of vegetarian limitations. When I complained about this behavior to the manager, he too ignored our concerns and continued to giggle. Such conduct is unacceptable, especially in the hospitality industry where empathy and customer service are paramount.
Conclusion:
While the Marmara Pera Hotel has its merits, particularly with staff members like Mr. Duran and the housekeeping team, the rude and unprofessional behavior of the breakfast buffet staff and management left a sour taste. It is disheartening to encounter such attitudes in a setting where hospitality should be the priority. I hope the hotel management takes this feedback seriously and works towards improving the customer service standards in their...
