Minoa Pera is a bookstore with a special concept. As I will show in the photos below, what makes this bookstore different from other bookstores is the beautifully illuminated stairs at the entrance and the books lined up on the steps. It is a truly wonderful design with an image arranged with flower motifs on the side. There aren't many kinds of books inside, so don't expect a Penguin, a d&r or a Mephisto. This place sells visuals to you. There is a cafe inside, where you can read the book you bought, have a coffee with a friend or eat a dessert. You can compare this building to an art shopping center. There are exhibition areas on the lower and upper floors. Again, as you can see from the photos below, there are photos from two different exhibitions I went to. Those who know this building come here for meetings, for its exhibitions, and for a different kind of pleasure. "Oh, would you recommend it?" If so, go and see. It's not a waste of time. Ever since they opened the Pera branch, I enjoy having a quick look at the bookstore before going on with my day, it’s become a part of my Pera morning routine. So today I decided to try out the cafe section as well for some quick, light breakfast and oh boy was I disappointed.
The cafe section offers what you would find in any mediocre Istanbul cafe menu, for prices that aren’t astronomically high yet aren’t really worth your money. I don’t like the vibe of the indoor smoking area of the cafe as well, maybe it’s the lights that are on during the day or maybe it’s the ugly color of the walls or something. Overall I wouldn’t recommend actually eating there but a coffee to accompany your bookshop browsing experience should be fine.
PS: There is a 12% Service Fee that will be added when you ask for the bill, something to...
Read moreI was really disappointed with my experience at this cafe. I was working and had settled in at a shared table, and after paying a 12% service charge, I was unexpectedly asked to move. While I understand there may be policies in place, the way this situation was handled wasn’t ideal, and I expected a more considerate approach to customer service.
I am not sitting there taking forever your table cause I sit for 2 hours for 2 drinks, and u should training ur staff better cause he not even say sorry asking me to move. I am not moving anw just directly get out from this cafe.
At first I dont understand what he said bcs of language barrier and you also should training ur staff with English better since u sell a lot of English book with international customers.
