Arrived in Istanbul late in the evening for a business trip. The hotel directed us to Antakya which was conveniently located 4 mins walk away. Instantly blown away with finding such a gem on day one. The restaurant was comfortably busy with a warm, local vibe. They were able to accommodate 8 of us instantly and set about creating the perfect experience for us. Every establishment, business and salesperson in Istanbul said the same thing. “We want to make your experience or purchase the best it can possibly be so you will talk about it back home and wish to return.” The aroma from the kitchen was mouthwatering and the restaurant itself was cosy and inviting. The food arrived quickly and the drinks were flowing freely. It was delicious and portions were generous. All of us were munching away with smiles on our faces. Value for money was amazing also. Starters, mains, desserts, sides, wine, beers, shots and tea to finish, split 8 ways was roughly £35 each. Bargain!! To say the staff were amazing is an understatement. They looked after us very attentively despite being busy and I honestly think that is how they are on a daily basis with everyone. We left extremely happy and I returned 2 more times during the weekend trip. Same experience each time. If you are in old town Istanbul looking for a place to eat, make sure you try Antakya, you won’t be disappointed

GREAT Restaurant! We’ve eaten at Antakya several times on EACH of our trips to Istanbul over the last three years. The food is consistently GREAT & the prices are very reasonable...(accurately priced w/ changing exchange rates w USD or Euro vs TL. Our favorite is their bread /pita before dinner w yogurt & oil dip. My husband ordered the fajita plate and it was steaming fresh! My fave is the chicken kebab plate w orzo type rice & some fresh grilled veggies. It’s in between the Grand Bazaar area & Cemberilitas (Constantines Column area). We’ve always eaten outside and the waiters are very nice. They even remembered us from previous trips! Highly recommended! *UPDATE visited also in Aug of 2023 & everything was GREAT! Good portions & prices! We brought our teen son w us on that trip. He also liked the restaurant’s food. The TL money estimate on per person is based on current conversion rates of 32TL =~ $1 USD. so I estimated about $10 per person with diet sodas to drink :)

My review will be in Arabic and English تقييمي سيكون بالعربي والإنجليزي في إسطنبول ستحتار في اختيار المطاعم .. ليس من السهل ابدا اختيار المطعم المناسب كونه الجميع يتنافس بتقديم الأفضل وعلى ذلك وقعت الأعين على هذا المكان الجميل جدا .. ما جذبني إليه هو انه كان الوقت جدا متأخر لدرجه كنت اشك مطعم بهذا التقييم الرائع سيكون فاتح لهذه الساعه المتأخرة اتصلت على صاحب المطعم في الموقع.. رد علي عندما سألته هل استطيع القدوم من أجل العشاء ؟ أهل ستقفلون قريبا ؟ رد علي صاحب المطعم ( طالما هناك زبائن سعيدين لن نغلق وسنكون في انتظارك .. مرحبا بك ) سعدت كثيرا بهذا .. ركبت السياره وانطلقت لتجربه المكان وعند وصولي فعلا وجدته في انتظاري وكنت أشعر ببعض الذنب لكن بطيبته وأخلاقه العاليه.. جعلني لا أشعر بالذنب وبدأت مرحله الطلبات : ١ - المنيو تحتوي على العديد والعديد من الأصناف المتنوعه ..طلبت في البدايه صحن الصلصله الحاره مع اللبن وكانت رائعه بلا شك .. لدرجه في الثوره المرفقه تذوقت الخبز قبل أخذ الصوره من جوعي وحماسي lol 2 - تم تجربه فطيره الجبن لديه .. وفوجئت انه كبيره جدا ومن لذتها تم القضاء عليها سريعا ٣ - الطلب الرئيسي كان كرات اللحم مع الصلصه والجبن .. الشيف يستحق تحيه كبيره على هذا الطعم الجميل ٤ - المكان كبير جدا فيوجد جلسات داخليه وخارجيه .. لديك الحريه بالاختيار ٥ - كما أشرت سابقا صاحب المكان رجل رائع .. سيجعلك حتما تشعر كأنك بالمنزل ٦ - الاسعار ليست عاليه فهي ضمن المعقول.. اذا كانت بالنسبه لك غاليه فاعلم انها تستحق هل سوف أعود مجددا؟ بالتأكيد طبعا In Istanbul you will have a choice of restaurants. It is not always easy to choose the right restaurant Because everyone is competing for the best And therefore the eyes fell on this very beautiful place .. What attracted me to him is that it was very late to find good place to eat and to find high ratetd place like this still open was weak shot I called the owner of the restaurant . He answered me when I asked him if I could come for dinner. Will you close soon? Owner replied (as long as there happy customers will not close and we will be waiting for you .. Welcome) I was very happy with this .. started my car and ride to place and when I actually arrived I found him waiting for me and I felt some guilt But with his high morals and ethics .. He made me feel no guilt anymorr and started the phase of the requests: 1 - Menu contain many and many different varieties .. I asked in the beginning a bowl of hot sauce with yogurt on side and was wonderful without a doubt .. Forgive my photo .. I ate some of bread lol 2 - cheese pie .. I was surprised that it is very large and becouse it's yammmy I ate it in seconds 3 - The main request was the meat balls with sauce and cheese .. The chef deserves a great greeting on this beautiful taste 4 - The place is very large, there are internal and external seats .. You have freedom of choice 5 - As I mentioned previously the owner is a wonderful man .. will make you feel likr home 6 - Prices are not high, they are within the reasonable .. Will I come back again? Of course, of course

Very nice and clean restaurant. The personal was very kind and polite. The food tasted perfect, fresh vegetables were used. You can have dishes with or without meat, therefore this restaurant is also a very good choise for vegetarian people. The price is abolutely fair and not expensive at all. Joghurt and bread in the begining were for free (as common in turkey), in the end the restaurant gave us black tee (also common) and kindly as well baklava as dessert! The restaurant is located directly at a main street with access to a train, but is not overcrowded with tourists. Here you get traditional turkish food in high quality and not with tourist prices! The Grand Bazaar is in front of the restaurant and two of the most famous mosques of istanbul, Ahmed Sultan Mosque and Hagia Sophia (now a museum), are in walking distance. Therefore perfect restaurant to eat!

We were approached by the owner whilst walking past to try and entice us to come in. He was pushy but this is common practice along that stretch of road in Istanbul. The menu did look ok and prices fairly reasonable, but we decided to carry on walking to see what other options were available. Having not seen anything that appeared better we returned and got a table inside. We ordered Turkish cheese pide, a chicken dish and a lamb dish. The pide was decent and the meat on the meat dishes was good, however the fries were raw and the rice was cold on both dishes.The service was terrible and it took ages to get a waiters attention let alone get a some hot food. They tried to make it up to us with some tea and baclava on the house, but the tea wasn't very nice at all. Disappointed and we regret not going elsewhere!

The warm bread and yogurt before the dinner, and apple tea afterwards were a nice touch. However, my wife and I were virtually accosted by servers peddling this restaurant and their neighbours' across the street on the way in (we had already decided to go to this restaurant beforehand and wouldn't be put off), and starting off on this bad note meant the food had better live up to the hype. In the end, the food was ok, but it didn't come close to the calibre of our kebap lunch across the channel (and for less than half the price) earlier in the day. Our bill was 142 lira for two mains, one fanta and one beer. I feel a little bad about posting this, but the pushiness really was over the top: this restaurant is unfortunately a tourist trap and 3 stars is an honest review.
