You MUST see the Grand Bazaar when in Turkey. The sheer size of the Grand Bazaar is awe-inspiring—it’s one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world, with over 4,000 shops spread across a maze of alleys. You may feel extremly overwhelmed at first but you get the hang of it. Just keep track of which entrance you came in so that you don't become turned around as it is so big you could easily become lost. Lots of different items for sale. The best places to get your goods are in the shops just outside of the bazaar or the markets in Eminonu as the prices are much cheaper and you can usually barter them down a lot more too. Do not recommend this place. Highly over priced items you can get cheaper elsewhere in the city. Be especially careful with the Turkish delight shops (pictured on the left in my photo). They charge me 2600 Turkish lira for a tiny box, about $80 USD! I saw receipt and turned around and said no, I want to return. They didn’t want to take it back until the realized I was from a cruise excursion and our excursion guide took us directly to that shop, so I’m sure they have some deal with them they didn’t want to lose and let me return.
