I strongly warn against visiting Sultan Selim Hamam. After the hammam treatment, the therapist intentionally and without my consent massaged my breasts during a separate massage session. This was a clear violation of personal boundaries and completely unacceptable.
When I confronted management, they initially admitted this behavior, calling it “normal” in Turkish massage practices and said I was “lucky” to receive it. However, two of my friends who also had massages there did not experience anything like this, which clearly shows it is not a standard or accepted practice, and several Turkish friends confirmed that such behavior is unacceptable.
The spa then deleted their initial messages admitting the behavior and began denying any wrongdoing. They refused to give me a refund or disclose the therapist’s full name. Instead, they offered me a free session as compensation — which is totally inappropriate considering that non-consensual touching is a crime in Turkey.
I have all screenshots and evidence of their initial acknowledgment and communication. I have reported this incident to the authorities to ensure no one else suffers this violation.
I strongly urge all women and visitors to be extremely cautious — this place does not prioritize client safety or respect.
EDIT / FOLLOW-UP
In response to the owner's reply:
I would like to clarify that my review is based on my personal experience, and I have documentation of my communication with the spa, including screenshots.
When I first contacted the spa, I did not ask for a refund. I politely raised my concern about what happened during my massage session, and asked that the therapist be spoken to so that similar situations could be avoided in the future.
In their initial response, the spa stated that the action in question was considered “normal” and even mentioned I was “lucky” to have received it. They also said the therapist believed it was beneficial for me.
Only after this exchange did I request a refund, and shortly afterward, some of the earlier messages were removed. That’s when I chose to write a public review.
I was accompanied by friends that day who saw my emotional state after the session, and I have kept records of all relevant communication.
While the spa stated they wanted to resolve the matter amicably, I believe I initially approached them respectfully and privately with a genuine concern. Their denial and refusal to take responsibility left me no choice.
I declined their offer of a complimentary session. For me, this was never about compensation, but about making sure that other guests — especially women and international visitors — feel safe and respected.
This review reflects my individual experience and is shared in good faith, with supporting evidence, in the hope that it contributes to safer service for all guests.
I hope the spa has followed through on its promise of staff training and that no other woman is...
Read moreKripa puspa are good I was nearly pressured into giving them the highest review at the checkout point. Here is my honest review. It was happy medium at best. I wasn't going to give them any review since it wasnt going to be a great one. Here is what ive signed up for. 30 min massage, 30 min hamam and 40 min saunas and whirlpool. There was no whirepool, which i didnt care too much of.. i didnt think it was 30 minutes of massage and 30 minutes of hamas.. i am certain of it because the total time i was in there werent 100 minutes.. massage was actually good.. just shorter than expected.. it was my first time getting hamas so I dont have a good standard of measure, however it wasn't reaching my expectation and felt a bit short.. the turn off was that the girl wanted me to give her my safe key for her to bring me my wallet and other more valuable belongings while i changed back into my clothes..she probably wanted me to give her tip as soon as i get done changing. i obviously didn't go for that even though she seemed like an ok girl, i obviously didn't have that level of trust in her for her to have full access to my higher value possessions which included close to a U$1000 plus passport, credit cards.. as i was checking out, i still gave her a $10 tip which by this country's standard i thought was more than fair... she didn't seem ecstatic or anything, she did say thank you. Then the reception girl asked me how my session was.. i did say good.. she asked me to do a good review for them.. i said yes.. she wanted me to give her my phone right then and there so that she could add my phone to her wifi network for me to give them a great review for them to see. She then added her name and the masseuse's name on the body of the review. I then gave them a five star review . Once she confirmed that i hit the complete button of the review.. i then asked her whether there is a likes of Mcdonald or burgerking nearby.. she just said she didn't know and didnt want to be bothered by me by shifting conversation to other customers. They didnt deserve a 5 star review.. i would say a C+ would be the most fairest assessment of my...
Read moreWe booked hammam here after finding it on GetYourGuide. We messaged through what’s app and confirmed they had availability at our time. When we arrived we went to the other Beethoven hotel across the street, not realizing it was in this one. On arrival there were many guests , likely due to the high rating. That was the biggest hiccup. They can probably serve 6 guests at a time but had almost a dozen. It was utter chaos. All of the workers were yelling at each other and my experience was the worst hammam I have ever had. They had us in a “relaxation room” for almost 40 min before starting. Lots of loud phone ringing for the staff and yelling made this not relaxing. We then changed and were started in the sauna. This was almost 45 min for me due to too many guests and lack of communication by staff. No water available from the container after my first glass. They then took me for hammam. Then sent me back to sauna to get sweaty again before my massage. After massage they sent me covered in oil and a face mask to shower in the low pressure shower with a clogged drain. I did not feel clean. It was not relaxing. No steam room for me. My wife had slightly better order of operations but also was disappointed. There was work on the street above that was very loud throughout and not there their fault. The utter chaos in the hammam makes this not a good choice. The one across the street was called premium for $5 more and I imagine it was infinitely better. Be very wary...
