Looks traditional, but hides a scam – be careful!
This was our first meal after arriving in Turkey, and unfortunately, it left a bad impression. We ordered a few regular items – lemonade, a milkshake, grilled vegetables, lamb chops, and an “Ottoman Anatolian kebab” – and the total bill was an outrageous 4470 TRY (about $124 or €112).
At first, we weren’t familiar with local prices and assumed it might be normal. But just a day later, we realized that this price is far above the average for similar food in Istanbul.
The environment is average, the ingredients are nothing special, and the food quality is mediocre. Based on all that, this meal simply does not justify such a high cost. There’s a huge gap between what we paid and what we actually received.
It’s clear that this restaurant is taking advantage of tourists who haven’t had a chance to understand local pricing yet. We felt tricked and disappointed.

Read moreAfter a long and tiring day, feeling a bit let down by what was promised versus what we actually got, our family stumbled upon this restaurant. The staff were incredibly friendly and created a welcoming atmosphere, even at 1 am, right before closing. They never made us feel like we were keeping them from shutting down, which was really appreciated.
The food was fantastic! We were treated to complimentary balloon bread, which was delicious. The kebabs and doner meat were succulent and full of flavor. It was also reasonably priced—about 2800 lira including a tip for five adults—and we were absolutely stuffed by the end of the meal.
By the time we left, our spirits were lifted. This spot is only a five-minute walk from our hotel, and we’re sure to be back for Argeela before...
Read moreBeen to this restaurant as we were approached in the street. We went for lamb chops form the menu which appeared to be around 8 pieces of grilled lamb chops for 1200 Turkish Lira. Instead they brought as some sort of vegetable with 4 lamb chops as you can see on the picture attached. I told them is not the same food we ordered from the menu and they said for 1200 Turkish Lira is just 4 lamb chops, the picture reflects the portion for two person which is 2000 Turkish Lira. I went back and forth with them and in the end they realized they made a mistake and brought us another 4 lamb chops… The food was really tasty despite looking so bad…and it’s just so stupid advertising something on the menu with pictures and bringing something completely different to the table. Very...
