Didn't disappoint ....Visited after reading the great reviews on trip Advisor and a reassuring Government hygene assessment and came away very very happy. Travelling from the Grand Bazaar the restaurant was just in a side road 600m along a straight main road. Classic styling this is a restaurant within a small hotel. After fresh pittas and a lovely olive tapanade and then a super fresh Meze starter only costing 38tl for 2 people and discussing the dishes with our very helpful and efficient waiter Enes who spoke good English we opted for a mixed lamb and chicken Testi kebab which was cooked in a sealed terracotta pot in a lovely tomato based sauce. The dish is bought to your table on a flaming bed of charcoal where Enes expertly cracked off the pot lid to reveal the fabulously flavoured meat and vegetable dish. It was accompanied by rice and Enes picked up on fact we like potatoes and bought some chips and roasties as well We also had a full bottle carafe of a very pleasant house red, one beer and two bottles of water. Was too full to order desserts but were bought two baklavas and offered tea or coffees 'on the house'. With local tax bill was TKL 520....about £73. Bearing in mind alcohol in Istanbul isn't cheap this was very reasonable. If we can get there again this trip we will if not it's a definate on our list for our next visit...

We expected a goodwill gesture of either offering some discount or an apology - neither of which was made.
When we asked to speak to the owner the manager repeatedly said the owner is busy and has no time to discuss these issues.
It's unfortunate we had to insist on a discount which he eventually offered a small one unwillingly.
Highly disappointed as this was our last day in Istanbul and we wanted to make it a special meal before taking the...
Read moreBest dinner Byzantion Bistro is the best, My wife and I had dinner here to celebrate our anniversary and couldn’t have made a better choice. This is wonderful fine dining and well worth it. The menu specialises in Ottoman dishes that are not available at the other restaurants. We went there for a nice, relaxed and intimate dinner and must say that the experience was great. Our waiter, Hasan recommended a great wine to go with the delicious food we ordered. Everything was cooked to perfection and the service was excellent. With all the fresh ingredients, delicious spice blends and the masterful cooking techniques, the resulting dishes were outstandingly tasty...
