We stayed there 4 nights, we couldn't have picked a better place. The hotel is located in the lively district of Sirkeci, in a strategic position: in a few minutes of walking you can easily reach Sultanhamet, the bazaar district and the Galata bridge, to go to the other side of the European town to to take the ferry to the Asian side of Istanbul. Rooms are very clean and large, they have all the comforts and a good selection of amenities. The mattress and pillows are very comfortable. Breakfast is very good, with a large selection (different every day) of international and turkish food and drinks. The level of service and the attention of the workers makes all the difference. Everyone is so attentive and focused on the needs of customers, remembering the habits of each: the second day at breakfast there was no need to ask for water and coffee, because as soon as they saw us arrive they served us everything according to our habits. We want to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for making us feel at home. Thanks especially to Mert the receptionist. He had perfect suggestions to optimize your time, so you don't miss any of the main attractions that istanbul has to offer. Mert pointed us to an Italian speaking guide (Hayim Algazi, top player!!!) who showed us around Topkapi and Hagia Sophia. Every time we returned to the hotel he showed a sincere interest in how our holiday was progressing and sought our feedback, so that he could take it into account in the next suggestions to be given to guests. All this is not obvious, unfortunately. Mert does a great job. Ultimately, we can't wait to return to Istanbul, wonderful city and we will certainly return to the...
Read moreDon't expect the sprawling monoliths of South Cenral Park; there are approximately 15 million currently living in Istanbul and perhaps not surprisingly, space is at a premium. The majority of Istanbul's hotels are boutique sized and immaculately presented, and the Neorion is no exception: Rooms at the Neorion are modern, comfortable, and very thoughtfully appointed with free wi-fi and yes, a hairdryer in the bathroom! đ¤ Breakfast, comprising of a mix of Turkish cakes and pastries, and continental cuisine, is buffet style and simply moreishđ. There's a second, roof top restaurant with fabulous views across the city, for evening dining. The staff at the Neorion (all of whom appear to speak better English than me) are uber courteous and attentive, and although I didn't indulge, the Neorion boasts a sub-level, pool and spa đ¤. Not to mention the Neorion's location is to do it an injustice: it's adjacent to some of Istanbul's prime dining and shopping. Hang a right out of the Neorion and you're a ten minute stroll from the Sultanahmet district: Hagia sofia, Blue Mosque, and the Grand Bazar to name a few. Set off in the opposite direction and you're at the harbour with connections across the Golden Horn to the Galata Tower & Istiklal Avenue. Or, a12 minute ferry crossing will transport you to the continent of Asia and the indulgent Bazars of Kadikoy. You can now purchase the infamous Istanbulkart at any tram, or transport terminal - so don't panic if you miss out at the airport! The Neorion is cool, modern & impeccably managed; I can't recommend it enough. Enjoy Istanbul - its everything you've heard...
