A Sweet Paradise in Kadıköy: A Must-Visit Gem for Gourmet Treats!

During my recent visit to Kadıköy, Istanbul, I stumbled upon an enchanting little shop that instantly captivated my senses with its irresistible aroma and colorful display. Nestled in the heart of the neighborhood, this hidden gem turned out to be a haven for all things sweet - a true haven for those with a sweet tooth like myself!

The shop, whose name eludes me, offered a delightful array of delectable treats, but what caught my attention first was their signature Almond Cookie. Each bite was a heavenly blend of flavors, with a unique twist from their homemade almond paste. The delicate balance of sweetness left me pleasantly surprised, as it wasn't overpowering like many other sweets. Trust me; you don't want to miss trying these heavenly creations!

One of the highlights of my visit was their selection of fruit and vegetable candies, all crafted from their very own almond paste. Not only were they visually stunning, but they also tasted extraordinary! The vibrant colors and exquisite craftsmanship made these candies a feast for the eyes, while the delightful taste left a lasting impression on my palate.

But the delights didn't end there! I couldn't resist indulging in their Caramel Trileçe cake, and it turned out to be a decision I didn't regret. Moist, flavorful, and wonderfully balanced, this cake was a true masterpiece. It's no surprise that this treat is one of their bestsellers - it's a slice of heaven on a plate!

As the day grew warmer, I sought relief from the heat with their Tamarind sherbet. This refreshing drink was exactly what I needed - a burst of coolness that invigorated my senses and kept me going. Perfect for a hot day in Istanbul, I highly recommend giving this delightful sherbet a try.

If you're planning to visit Istanbul, make sure to include this charming shop in your itinerary. The treats here not only make for delightful gifts to bring back home but also promise to be a memorable experience for your loved ones. Their visual appeal and incredible taste are truly unmatched.

In conclusion, my visit to this delightful establishment in Kadikoy was an absolute joy. From the Almond Cookies to the stunning fruit and vegetable candies, and the delectable Caramel Trileçe cake, each treat was a testament to the passion and creativity of the shop's creators. The Tamarind sherbet was the perfect way to cool down on a hot day.

Don't miss out on this sweet paradise if you find yourself in the vicinity. I can't recommend it enough! Whether you have a sweet tooth or not, the wonderful delicacies offered here are sure to leave you with lasting memories and a desire to return for more. So, treat yourself, your friends, and your family to an unforgettable experience at this lovely shop in Kadikoy, Istanbul....

Sales woman who gave me chocolate added extra separate weighted item to my invoice of not purchased sweets, in addition to 680 g of specialty chocolate, when I discovered after having paid [billed for 1.08 kg] Also the cashier, pretended that I did not pay him 200 TL in cash. Luckily, another customer,.who queued with me, who saw that I paid, insisted that I did pay [as he was asking me to pay again]. I had to take the chocolate back to the sales woman and insist to be reimbursed for over paying, while she tried to suggest that the additional item, was an "extra" fee. In the end I was reimbursed.... Lesson learned carefully check invoices, only pay when, someone else is also seeing it, and check weight of chocolate items. See my photos as documentation for this. No one in shop spoke English. Bana çikolata veren satış kadını, [1.08 kg için faturalandırıldı] ödedikten sonra keşfettiğimde, 680 g özel çikolataya ek olarak, satın almayan tatlılarımın faturasına ekstra ayrı ağırlıklı ürün ekledi. ona 200 TL nakit. The sweet offerings are a sight to behold! Lured by the sight & to find a great place to land my feet, I stepped in. I wanted to treat myself with their Turkish coffee & baklava. Unfortunately, got served tea! Not wanting to waste, I accepted the tea. Sigh. Also, was not sure what was it about my appearance but the waiters did not seem interested to serve me in the less than half-filled cafe upstairs. He didn't want to volunteer any suggestions until asked or even to listen to what I would like. Instead, once we decided on baklavas, he went ahead to order 3 baklava of same flavour. Fortunately I spoke up to request a change to various flavours. As a tourist to a fine sweet shop, we'd want to try as much of the shop's finest offerings in 1 sitting (within controlled calorie count, of course! 🤭), not just one single flavour. The marketing & listening aspect from the cafe could certainly be improved. The baklava were delicious. Wish I had my coffee fix though. That would have improved the rating a bit more. Lols

I have been visiting Şekerci Cafer Erol regularly for several years during my stays in Istanbul, and it remains one of my favorite places in the city. I deeply appreciate the consistently high quality and outstanding taste of their sweets. The charming interior atmosphere also adds to the experience and makes every visit feel special. Despite the rather high prices, it’s always worth it. However, during my most recent visit, I was disappointed to notice that — apart from the baked rice pudding — all desserts were served in plastic bowls. This struck me as quite concerning, especially considering the unnecessary use of raw materials, the creation of plastic waste, and the overall disregard for environmental sustainability. While this shift is unfortunate, and I sincerely hope the establishment reconsiders its serving practices in favor of more sustainable alternatives, I will likely continue to visit and enjoy the delicacies they offer.
