Maruf Türbeönü Lokantası Review
During our recent visit to Konya, we dined at Maruf Türbeönü Lokantası, a restaurant renowned for its proximity to the Mevlana Museum and Sultan Selim Mosque. Here is our detailed review of the experience.
Food: We ordered a variety of dishes including mixed kebab, meat shish with yogurt, okra soup, and shish kofte.
Okra Soup: The soup was flavorful and enjoyable, providing a comforting start to the meal. Mixed Kebab: While the mixed kebab was good, it felt a bit overpriced for the quantity and quality offered. Meat Shish with Yogurt: This dish, served on a large plate, was dominated by yogurt and other ingredients, with the actual meat portion being quite modest. Shish Kofte: The shish kofte was overly fatty and mixed with oily bread and potato pieces, making the plate appear more substantial than it actually was. This detracted from the overall taste and enjoyment.
Despite these shortcomings, the taste of the starters was pleasing, and the bread served was fresh and well-chosen.
Ambiance: The ambiance of Maruf Türbeönü Lokantası is charming and culturally rich. The decor features numerous pictures and frames of calligraphy related to Rumi, his poetry, and Sufism, creating a beautiful and serene environment.
Location: The restaurant is ideally located right in front of the Mevlana Museum and Sultan Selim Mosque, making it a convenient spot for tourists visiting these historic sites.
Overall Experience: While the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and a great location, we found it overpriced for the quality and quantity of food provided. The dishes, particularly the meat shish with yogurt and shish kofte, could benefit from a better balance of ingredients to ensure the focus remains on the quality of the meat.

In addition to the savory dishes, we also tried their rice pudding for dessert, and it was simply amazing. The rice was perfectly cooked and creamy, and the hint of cinnamon gave it a warm, comforting flavor that was the perfect end to our meal.

Read moreSuleyman proves to be an extremely attentive and amiable waiter, and the establishment's location is indeed convenient.
Another waiter placed a bottle of water on our table without our request, and subsequently attempted to include it on our bill... Aparantly this is a common local practice! I would advice them to inform customers that the water is NOT complimentary.
I specifically requested the halwa, which, according to the menu, is garnished with pistachios, but it arrived without any, and with walnuts instead which i dont like
It would have been more appropriate for the waiter to inform me that they had run out of pistachios instead of serving a different variation.
Regrettably, the first overall experience was less than satisfactory, however on subsequent visits they acted on my feedback which is a...
