Montauk Boutique — Restaurant in Abu Dhabi

I recently had a very disappointing experience at Montauk Cafe that I feel compelled to share. I had called a day in advance to reserve a table for a special gathering with two close friends. We were driving all the way from Al Ain to Abu Dhabi specifically for the cafe, and I made sure to inform the staff about our request for a special arrangement.

Upon our arrival, however, we were shocked to find that our reservation had been overlooked. Our table, complete with the special setup we discussed, had been given to someone else. This was incredibly frustrating, especially since we had made the effort to communicate our needs clearly.

After this initial setback, we reluctantly accepted another table arrangement. Unfortunately, this new setup took significantly longer than expected, adding to our disappointment. By the time we settled in, our excitement had turned to frustration.

We eventually ordered our breakfast, requesting four different plates to share among us. To our dismay, only two plates were served. When we inquired about the missing items, we received little clarity or assistance, which only compounded our dissatisfaction.

What was meant to be a memorable outing turned into a frustrating ordeal, leaving us feeling undervalued as customers. I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for Montauk Cafe. While I understand that mistakes happen, the lack of attention to our reservation and the overall service—especially regarding our breakfast order—was disheartening. I believe better communication and organization could prevent such situations...

The reason behind the "one star" review is as follows,

We ordered 2 main courses (Steak & Chicken Sliders) with 2 Mojitos,

I personally requested the steak to be medium well. it came to me as well done.. they did not measure the temperature apparently. the truffle sauce on top of the steak was dry.. and too bitter...Wasn't enjoying it at all wanted to just finish up the dish... wish never ordered it.

I asked the waitress if there are any side dishes comes with the steak, she just mentioned the mushrooms and the truffles, so i ended up ordering the mash potatoes on the side.. when the main dish comes, i saw mash potatoes on the side of the steak.. meaning i ordered an extra mashed potatoes for nothing...

the second main dish, "The chicken sliders", my friend is allergic to spicy food. the waitress did not inform her that the sauce in the burger will be spicy.. and when my friend called the waitress, instead of her saying "we are sorry Ma'am, we will replace it for you" instead she replied "yes Ma'am the burger is spicy only the sauce not too spicy"

The food came after 40mins+ we called the waitress how much longer? she said it is coming ma'am, some tables were served before us although we came way before them.. so in terms of organizing orders not very good..

we ordered drinks the drinks came with the main courses it was suppose to be drinks first am I right? .. the quality of food is not bad, the prices are high, and I wouldn't visit this...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Montauk and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish.
