12:40pm arrived Was amazed at the restaurant's view, the buffet looked great and the chefs were so friendly. We waited for a few minutes until some guy came to approach us, I forgot to call the AOS Sofitel about the booking since I purchased the Groupon voucher early morning. But gladly he told us everything was fine and he assigned a nice table which I could observe the entire restaurant easily
We start our food journey with some soup and selections of salads, Another amazing from the culinary team here is during the busy time the Director of Culinary himself comes to check the buffet and ensure the foods are in good condition and refilled for the next guest. He looked so busy even not too shy removing dirty plates from the buffet to clear them, also he kept asking his team (the Chef in the life station) if they needed help or not. What a leadership! Awesome
Not just that, the experience I had at the Taco Live station also was memorable, the chef there always smiling whenever he gave the guests their order, he always asked them what kind of tacos they liked to have as a preference and he would make it front of you
Continued my journey with AOC service standards, the restaurant seemed busy at the time also from the next table I heard they expecting some group to come. So far I have seen 4 servers in our area with 5 tables occupied (2-5) each table. Sadly among 4 servers, nobody is even tentative enough to check a table of cutleries for each guest/table which is accoupied. We have to keep asking for a new fork or spoon whenever we need it - minus point. As a five-star hotel, it should be a setup standard that says “refill cutleries” and recognize what the guest needs.
A server came to our table and offered us some tea or coffee if we wanted to have any, hopefully I am not forgot or mistaken, her name is Jumei as in Jumeirah. Haha. Jokes aside, she was nicely ensure we have a good service and everything we needs at the time which makes me thinking “where have you been?” since we sat to our table she's the only server who comes to out table and offer us some help or even drinks. After almost an hour we sat, imagine.
Another downfall from the service which for me should not have even happened is they serving our tea order with “a broken teapot”? Imagine getting this type of cutleries from a 5-star Hotel. The manager should have been more active in checking their utensils or chinaware. Not just delegate some tasks to the supervisor, by that I can guarantee this thing won't happen.
Overall experience - Lunch...
Read moreWas very happy to be back at Le Grande brunch today. We had visited a couple of times a few years ago and remember the food being amazing.
We’ll today didn’t disappoint. I was hoping for Foie gras which we had last time but they were kind enough to explain that it’s been a struggle to find it. Instead there was a beautiful fresh scallop station.
The quality of food and the range was fabulous. The desserts overflowed into 3 parts of the kitchen. I do think they maybe over did the amount of dessert available but this is dubai. We were overwhelmed in the best way by all the offerings.
The sushi was the best we had had at a brunch, the pork section had wonderful French dishes and THEN the massive range of cheeses as well as everything else in between.
The staff are so happy and friendly. Our waiter Sean had a smile on his face all day and was happy to help for everything. He was very kind and helpful. Also it was wonderful having a Dj. I remember it used to be a quiet brunch but there was a real buzz today and the house tunes were great.
I can’t wait to go back again
My ONLY negative It seems that hotel guests were allowed in for lunch and straight from the pool. I would maybe suggest separating brunch goers that have made an effort to dress up for their maybe one day out a week and not have them sitting with families with kids and people that have just thrown something over their swimmers to come in and stuff their face, make a mess and go. The tables in our section were turned over again and again. Made it feel like we weren’t at brunch at some points but watching families at a Pizza Hut. There was also a man that walked through in a dressing gown open with just shorts on. Didn’t really fit the vibe
This didn’t ruin our day as everything else was spot on. Just maybe a thought for future. There was plenty of space to keep...
