Armani/Mediterraneo — Restaurant in Dubai

When you think of Dubai, you think of the Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab. You would think that the hotels that are located at these destinations would be top of the class. Well This is the case for Burj Al Arab but definitely not the one located at Burj Khalifa, which is Armani Hotel.

When you hear Armani hotel, you have certain expectations and I have to say that those were beyond not met. When you hear Armani, you would think that the food here would be amazing as they have a lot to live up to with the name. The spread itself is a fair size but that was about the only impressive thing about the buffet that is served at Mediterraneo.

We came here to celebrate a birthday and I really wish we didn’t as the the food quality was basic and I struggled to find anything that was worth eating. For the price that they charge, which is approximately 300 dhs, you can have an experience that is out of this world at Atlantis. I don’t know who in their right mind decided to design the various dining options. At 9/10 restaurants, you either have the soft drink or house beverage package, then there is Armani whom feel that people would actually pick the buffet option only with no food, seriously? That one had me laughing for a little bit.

Armani Mediterraneo also served a bunch of poached dishes which requires absolutely no skill in preparing, I think a child can prepare the same dish. Why would I go to a five star to eat this when I can buy the same at any hypermart? The chefs explained that this is because their previous versions of the same dish had too many complains because it was too flavourful, so they poached the items and have the sauces on the side. I don’t buy it, why don’t I go to carrefour and get the same dish instead of coming to Armani? I basically ate to fill my stomach rather than enjoying myself at Mediterraneo. Another dish that was plain was the rice pilaf which had zero seasoning or marination, it was basically a bunch of ingredients thrown together and that was it. The other meat dishes such as the beef and chicken were overcooked as they sat in the steamer for a long time. The best dish that I had basically the slices of ham/chicken/beef that are usually used in sandwiches, which was really sad.

The customer service was average, borderline bad as they can help you would the basics, anything extra they didn’t know how to help you. My favourite part of the evening was when the chefs found out about my displeasure and offered me the al a carte menu to which I could have paid extra to order something else if I wanted to. First it was the restaurant manager’s job to deal with any customer concerns. Second they made no effort to recover from the diasterous experience, they might as well not have offered. If I wanted to offer off the al a carte menu, I would have ordered it myself without the chef offering me the menu.It was basically like oh you didn’t like what we are serving you? Here pay more and we will cook for you.

I could have had a better experience at a 3 star hotel. I would say Armani is definitely not the place to...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the buffet dinner at Armani Dubai, located in the iconic Burj Khalifa, and it was truly an exceptional experience.

From the moment I arrived, the service was impeccable. Ms. Fathima, the front reservation associate, greeted me with warmth and professionalism, ensuring that my booking was quickly confirmed and I felt welcome from the outset. Her attention to detail set the tone for the evening, and she took the time to explain the layout and offerings of the buffet in a clear, friendly manner.

The buffet itself was a lavish spread, offering a range of mediterranean dishes that were both sophisticated and delicious. Each station featured high-quality ingredients, beautifully prepared with an emphasis on fresh flavors and presentation. From delicate seafood to succulent meats and vibrant vegetarian options, every dish was thoughtfully curated to cater to a variety of tastes.

A highlight of the evening was the service provided by Mr. Ali, our waiter for the night. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and went out of his way to ensure that we were comfortable throughout the meal. His recommendations were spot-on, and he made sure our glasses were always filled and our needs were promptly met. His personal touch made the dining experience feel both luxurious and relaxed.

Armani staff surprised me with a birthday cake upon my wife’s request as well that’s much appreciated.

We dined at Armani Mediterraneo on two occasions back in May 2024 celebrating our wedding anniversary. Our first visit was for the fabulous Sunday brunch. All we can say that this was an absolutely wonderful experience. The food was fantastic with excellent variety and all freshly prepared. The waiting staff deserve a mention as they were all so polite and attentive without being intrusive...a credit to the restaurant and hotel. Another mention must be given to the fantastic Sous Chef, Suraj Singh who catered to our every whim and introduced us to the most delectable morsels which he personally brought to our table. Bonk too is amazing. He delighted me in particular with his fantastic Truffle Risotto which I shall remember to my dying day...just superb!!! The second occasion we dined at Mediterraneo was for their fish buffet which was also so good. The fish and seafood were delicious and fresh and displayed beautifully. The spread of food for self-selection was second to none. The variety of starters, breads and dips were tremendous. The starters which included my favourite foie gras on brioche was devine! The main courses were outstanding, again, all fresh, hot and varied. The desserts were a feast for the eyes and ate as good as they looked!! I would not hesitate to return to this wonderful restaurant which was both elegant and fun to dine at. The staff made it truly amazing. We are back in May 2025 and will be returning to Armani Mediterraneo to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary which will no doubt be as wonderful an experience as the last two.
