We had been trying a lot of Indian Reataurants recently and sorry to say the hype did not live up to the expectations. We were really dissapointed by the food and experience.
The highlight of the dinner for me and my wife was the Abra ride which is not even a part of a restaurant, its something which is run by the hotel for most of the restaurants in the property.
We expected the restaurant to be pricey concedering the hotel propery but thought the feel and the quality of food will be exceptional but was truely dissatisfied.
So the restaurant had 3 sections for seating where the patio seemed to be a nice area given the weather was good aswell but we choose to sit the outdoor where the live band was as thats the place they serve shisha aswell. Was dissapointed with the ambiance and the furniture and cozyness as it was like a banquite style table and chair which was very uncomfortable.
Ordered a drink to begin which was the only thing which was a bit decent. ordere 2 small plates, one was some chat which was below average given the price, even the presentation which i was expecting will be amazing looking at the price was average aswell, second small plates was a crab taco thing to which i was very much dissapointed as the portion was super small, the description made it sound like i will get an amazing crab dish with what not but it was a tortilla chip 4 pieces with shredded grab and some dip sause on top.
These 2 small plates actually gave away our excitement to try something new and thought to order the safe option which was butter chicken where you cannnot go wrong but wait we did go wrong here also as the butter chicken was a supee small portion tk begin with with just 4 small a bit under cooked pieces of chicken a s the gravy which i would rate may be 2 out of 10 in the butter chicken curries i had tried all around the globe.
Total dissapointed and the. We thought to order a shisha as we came so far so atleast give that a shot but when i we asked the server to mix 2 flavors from the basic hukka he said it would be double the price of the shisha which i had never heard anywhere else.
This thing blew away the whole night foe us and we immediately asked for a check and left to some nice cozy spot somewhere tried and teated to grap a dessert for the night to atleast end the night on a sweet note after such a dissapointment.
I usually dont write this extreme bad comments and give always a benifit of doubt to restaurants but this one really was one of the worst experiences and totally...
Read moreWent there with family for a special occassion. I will divide my review in parts as there are some positives and negatives.
Access - Restaurant is located deep inside Jumeirah Al Qasr. Valet parking is fine but then you have to make your way to the buggy station or Abra station which can be busy during evenings as it was during our visit and the Jumeirah managing staff at these stations is not rude but not polite either. Its a very inefficient way to get to the place and expect a wait time of 10 to 15 minutes standing in the heat and in a que till your buggy or abra ride arrives. This was the most annoying part of our visit to Atrangi.
Ambience and Service - Perhaps the only highlight of our visit was the welcoming ambience and good service provided by our server Prashant. He was attentive and made some good suggestions for the appetizers, main course and the drinks. Ambience is pretty good with spaced out interiors and comfortable seating.
Food - In summary, disappointing and over rated. We ordered a bunch of small plates / starters and none of them is worth mentioning. Fleeting mention of bite sized Chola Bhatura which was flavorful but gone with the blink of an eye. Disappointment was carried over with the main course as well, nothing worthy to mention other than Pumpkin Kofta which probably was the highlight of the evening. Food is not Bad, but it's nothing exciting and is strictly average which is not expected from a fine dining place which charges a bomb for the bit sized portions.
Conclusion - Good Ambience, good service, strictly average food, inefficient access to the restaurant.
What to expect? - Long wait for the buggy / abra (not under restayrants control), Bite sized portions, strictly average food, and a hole in your wallet.
Dubai's fine dining scene is flooded with good restaurants many of them with actual michelin stars and not just 'michelin listed' as claimed by some of the websites for this place. Don't think I will repeat my visit to Atrangi soon as there are so many other and much better...
