We came to try out the new winter menu and we were so right to do so! From start to finish, each of our dishes, meticulously explained by our super friendly and welcoming Alvin, was fresh, wholesome and oh-so-comforting - just what you want after a long day!
The menu is Mediterranean-themed, and of course dates play a big part, especially in the dessert and drinks.
We shared a Burrata Peach Salad and an Italian Bean Zuppa to start, alongside fresh bread and Cafe Bateel’s branded olive oil and balsamic vinegar. That soup is worthy of a return visit all on its own - this is one for your must-try list.
For mains, we dived into the Greek Grilled Chicken which was juicy, moist and had a divine crusted skin, AB’s was served on a bed of buckwheat, kale, pistachio, eggplant, roasted peppers and Kalamata olives. We also shared a Smoked Salmon on Rye which was absolutely spot-on! It was a simple, and simply perfect - it didn’t pretend to be anything other than the wholesome sandwich we love, and it was great!
But our best love and recommendation is for the desserts - honestly, if you’re one who lives by the “Start with dessert, life’s short.” maxim, then this is the place to be! We shared the signature Sticky Date Pudding with elicited happy eating noises from both of us, and the signature Greek yoghurt and date gelato, with date syrup which was that perfect blend of slightly tart and heavenly sweet that makes your toes curl in happiness.
To round off, a Date Latte and a Date Seed Coffee, with a bottle of Sparkling Date Juice. An absolute winner.
Many thanks to Ms. Chona, and Alvin, and the chefs for the most wonderful evening spent...
Read moreWe’re regular visitors at Café Bateel on Palm Jumeirah, and it’s easily one of our favorite breakfast spots in Dubai. The atmosphere is always so calm and welcoming perfect for a relaxed start to the day. The staff recognize us now, which adds such a nice personal touch to every visit. Today we ordered the avocado on toast with halloumi, one of our go-to dishes. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were spot on the avocado was perfectly ripe, the halloumi nicely grilled, and everything was fresh and full of flavor. The portions are always generous, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients Bateel is known for. A special mention to Jacob, our server today, who was absolutely wonderful. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. It’s always great when the service matches the quality of the food, and Jacob really made our breakfast experience even better. Overall, Café Bateel never disappoints. Whether you’re coming for a quiet morning coffee, a hearty breakfast, or just to enjoy the beautiful Palm Jumeirah view, this place is consistently excellent. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food, great service, and a...

What’s a let down consistently is when the place is even just half full, the service is so patchy. Assuming there’re enough wait staff rostered, then the operating structure is either missing or not implemented.
You cannot find anyone who comes to take your order and you have folks looking past you to the outdoor dining area as they’re stood near your table; a table that’s got no menu, no beverage, no bread basket indicating you might not have been served. You cannot tell whose section you’re sitting in; and so don’t know who you could stop as everyone rushes from one task to another.
The manager did greet me but she was also running from one deliverable to another and I just sat there not being served. And I’m a regular who orders the same thing all the time.
I get better service at the food hall; they immediately greet me, ask me if I’d like the usual and especially bring me my order as a thank you for being a regular patron.
Bateel. You have wonderful staff. Your system must improve. A full service establishment that runs less proficiently than the mom and pop Bun Cha...
