I felt a little heartbroken through the experience. The intent is in the right place: offering an interactive dinner experience. The staff is very kind and trying hard. It feels like watching an 11-year old singer perform their best, you really want to encourage them, but unless it's your child, you won't pay 1600 AED for 2 people for this ( out of which we got 1 premium package worth 650 + birthday cake with wine pairing). This was perhaps worth 600 for 2.
Let's break it down. The food has the looks of something good, but not the flavor. From the soup served cold, the welcome sour shot tasting like industrial kid's candy, the overpowering sauces accompanying a too-dry beef-en-croute with almost no sides and unbalanced amounts of fat, a rose chocolate pastry that feels, again, overpowered with artificial flavors.
The wines were not introduced, served in about 30-40% of a regular serving size, and overall tasted like entry-to-medium quality.
Let's talk about the positives: the staff is very nice and caring, and trying their best. The projection mapping on the tables is crafted well. This project feels like somebody with a skill for animation and a passion for cooking, but that needs a professional eye for restaurant management as a support.
The fariy tale story itself is probably best suited for kids based on its narrative style, which is why it was a bit surprising to find 2 instances of mild swearing in French, something that won't bother international audiences but left me confused as to whether this was intended as a children or adult experience.
The decor, costumes and narrator all have a lot of room for improvement, landing consistently in the uncanny valley where the fourth wall keeps getting broken, just not on purpose. Wishes that are captured but strangely not connected to the experience (what are you going to do with them?) music that's too quiet, including while serving, all leaving a very awkward feeling in the room for all 2 hours, shared among the guests. Sitting 2 people on the edge of a table for 6, asking people to close their eyes for a while with no change after doing so... many, many small details that constantly keep you from immersing yourself in the story, like watching a movie where people keep entering the theater.
I encourage the owners who seem to have their heart in the right place, but please, do some serious audit and improvement to the experience, invest in training your very kind, but still under qualified, staff in the kitchen and in the serving room. Invest in your place, the decor, the quality of the ingredients, the delivery. Test the narratives before releasing them. Or reduce the prices drastically, if you want to keep them in line with the experience delivered. Hoping to come back later and witness serious improvements to the quality of the experience. Sorry for the tough love but I think it's very fair. Good luck and...
Read moreI generally do not write reviews but I had to highlight this, as I do not want others to feel and undergo the same what I felt! If I could give zero stars, I would. This was the most unsettling dining experience I have ever had, and it wasn’t just because of the food—it was because of the shockingly terrible management.
We paid to reserve seats for two at what was supposed to be a fine dining experience with a set 5-course menu. By the second course, the food was so unpalatable that it completely killed my appetite. I asked the waitress to stop serving me any further dishes. Not to miss a hair on the plate that i asked to change and the smelly fish that was served.
When the bill came, I was appalled to see that I was charged the full amount for two even though I had stopped eating after the second course. I politely asked if they could adjust the bill, as I did not consume most of the meal. The waitress refused, so I requested to speak with the manager on duty.
Enter the Manager who is hands down the rudest, most unprofessional person I have ever encountered in any service setting. Instead of listening to me, that female immediately started accusing me of trying to avoid paying and creating a scene. She dismissed my concerns outright and escalated things to the point of threatening to call the police if I didn’t pay. Her tone and demeanor made it clear she had already judged me before hearing my side, which added an uncomfortable layer to an already humiliating experience.
I have lived in Dubai for 10 years and this place has offered best of experiences and I have always been treated respectfully and have left fanciest places with a delightful feeling! But this time.. for the kind of money they are charging AED 550 for a 5 course meal) the ambience is pathetic its a small enclosed area with pipes in the cieling visible and nothing exotic. They have no empathy, no respect for their customers, and no sense of hospitality.
I was forced to pay the full amount and I left feeling deeply embarrassed, disrespected and mortified. The manager’s behavior is a disgrace to hospitality.
To my family and friends considering dining here, save yourself the money and the humiliation. The food is bad, but the management is even worse. My sincere advice to friends and family is to never go here when Dubai is full of new experiences with better service...
