I consider myself a connoisseur of Mexican food and recently heard about a little place in JLT. Driving home from work, I decided to give it a try. Located in Cluster D, it's always difficult to find parking, but I was lucky enough to grab a spot near Lake Terrace. In order to find the restaurant, you need to walk down to the waters edge. There, tucked in between several other eateries, is Chalco's. The first thing to strike me was that they were quite busy. All of the outside seats were filled and most of the inside too. Upon entering, I noticed the friendly chap at the register. He was busy taking orders, delivering food to the tables and cashing people out. It was apparent to me that he was likely the owner. I placed my order of a Taco Salad, chips and guacamole, and a Jarrito's Mandarin soda to wash it down. Shortly after sitting at the only vacant table in the place, Edgar delivered my food. I was very pleased at the portion, quality and taste. It definitely reminded me of the good street food you find in California. My order only came to 65.00 dirhams, which I feel is a decent price for that meal. It was both delicious and filling. I'll definitely be going back. I can't wait to try...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited this restaurant for dinner/Iftar last night and was quite disappointed with a few aspects of my experience. Given that it's Ramadan and I was fasting, I requested and was surprised to learn that they didnāt keep dates to offer to break the fast, something I believe is a basic courtesy during this time of year.
FOOD: I've been visiting this place since 2019, and unfortunately, the food quality has declined over the years. I was particularly disappointed that my usual order, the Pulled Beef Quesadilla, was missing from the menu. Instead, I opted for the Chili Con Carne Quesadilla, which was underwhelming and lacked flavor.
To make matters worse, I later found out, after finishing my meal, that the Pulled Beef Quesadilla was actually available, but due to a mix-up with the menus (both old and new versions being used), it wasnāt listed. The staff should have informed customers about any missing items or menu updates, as this could have changed my dining experience entirely.
SERVICE: The service was also below average. The staff didn't provide key information about the menu, and overall attentiveness was lacking. The lady was not friendly at all. Would want to explore other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe visited Chalco's twice now, and definitely won't be the last time.
Both times we opted in for their "All you can eat Taco Friday" offer and was absolutely worth it. At he moment it is going for AED 69 and includes veg, shredded beef, chicken, chilli con carne, steak, fish and shrimp options too!
Our personal favourites were shrimp, shredded beef and steak, but all of the options were super tasty and our choices are only based on personal preference.
Their ingredients are fresh and the quality of them are great.
If you are a fan of Coca Cola, you have got to try the Mexican coke, iit really does taste different!
A highlight of the experience is the ALWAYS super friendly service and the amazing nachos that come as a complementary snack.
Love love love.
PS. There are many places in Dubai that serve good food, but not as many that provide continuously exceptional service. I would really like to highlight that JLT's Chalco's is one of those...
